Happy weekend folks – I hope you’re all having a lovely relaxing one so far. We’re kicking off our weekend posts on our beautiful wedding blog with the most beautiful nuptials of Countess Anna and Count Karl von Stauffenberg in Bavaria, Germany. Anna is an ex-fashion designer and Karl worked in the hotel business until they founded their own events agency Gräfliche Eventmanufaktur Stauffenberg last year. Their stunning castle wedding venue is also their home, where they celebrated with an outdoor ceremony and a beautiful banquet in the recently refurbished old riding hall on the 25th of July this year. It truly is a beauty.
Anna and Karl didn’t go for a specific theme for their wedding but they did take inspiration from their surroundings and Anna’s work as a fashion designer helps her to gain a sense of colours and details. Using a mixture of vintage items and beautiful flowers to decorate the space, they created an elegant and romantic setting. The couple chose the wonderfully talented and Bavarian-based Grace and Blush to capture their special day and they loved the results.
“Jasmin is an artist, she catches every single moment in such a beautiful feeling.”
Anna found dress shopping very difficult as many of the lace styles she liked were only available in the USA or Australia. In the end though, she found her amazing Anna Kara dress in the Braut Zimmer shop in Bavaria. Her Katharina Schumm hairpiece sets the look perfectly.
“I saw so many fairy-dresses with lace on Pinterest, but none of these where available in Germany. The patterns of the typical lace dresses are very classic, feminine, A-shapes with too much volume in the skirt. I preferred a more flowing and feathery style, and eventually I found it.”
The floral arrangements for this wedding are just out of this world. Blousey, seasonal pastels sit side by side with lush green leaves and rich berries for an ethereal look, all perfectly and beautifully fit for an old world castle wedding.
“I walked down the aisle to ‘Lean on me’ by Bill Withers with my father. We chose the “prayer of the day” from Sunday 26/07/15 and an extract from the bible as readings.”
The couple met seven years ago at a classical music festival, Karl was working for his uncle, a well known conductor, and Anna was working as a waitress after her studies.
“We got our rings from Dieterich, a small Atelier with handmade jewellery. We were looking for traditional, pure rings with modernity and it was important for me to have a thin ring to wear with my engagement ring. We went to several Ateliers but they all suggested rings out of their catalogues. At first we thought this would be cheaper but found that small local stores were much better value for money as we wanted to support a small business too.”
Anna’s two bridesmaids wore different dresses from Marc O’Polo adding to the laid back feel while the younger girls wore the same beautiful white dresses from Steps Out.
“We used a lot of vintage furniture, chairs, buffet furniture, an old Italian ice-wagon, wine boxes, old family silver candle-holders on the table, and a baroque mirror for the seating plan to decorate the space.”
Words of Wedded Wisdom
“If it´s not affordable to have a wedding planner throughout the organisation, I would suggest having one on the wedding day, it takes the stress away. I would also suggest spending money on a real professional photographer because this is the only visual memory you have of your big day. The price is worth it when you see it in the pictures.”
Thank you so much to Anna and Karl and congratulations on creating such a beautiful wedding day. Jasmin of Grace and Blush has captured the essence of the day beautifully. I highly recommend taking a look at her blog, her images are completely stunning.
