Hello again lovely readers and today, I’m whisking you off to Devon and a stunning country estate that sits in a super enviable position right between the sea and Dartmoor National Park. Mamhead Estate itself is part of a love story. Built by Sir Robert Newman in 1883 for his bride Mary to be their country home after their own wedding, Newman worked with the renowned English architect Anthony Salvin and no expense was spared in the creation of Mamhead Estate. Today, it looks as wonderful as it ever has and it’s a truly fabulous location for your wedding.
Not only are you are able to marry in the house itself, you’re also spoiled for choice with reception rooms and you’ll also find an orangery, a music room, a snug, library, snooker room, study and even a swimming pool and gymnasium here too. There are 27 gorgeous bedrooms for guests and more locations for photographs than you could ever wish for. Elegant gardens, Italian terraces, open fires, stained glass windows and a staircase that has to be seen to be believed.
But that’s not all as there’s even more to discover. Waiting for you in the grounds is a Grade II listed Castle, built of a craggy red sandstone, that’s yet another option for wedding ceremonies (and it’s a must for photos too as it’s a phenomenal backdrop!) and there’s a C of E church at your disposal as well. Whatever setting you’re looking for, Mamhead Estate can provide the perfect space for you.
Now this is usually the point in a feature where I might talk about the things I particularly love about a venue. However, in the case of Mamhead Estate, I really feel that if I start along this road, it’s going to be difficult to stop, as this is an incredibly special wedding venue that offers everything.
What do I mean by that? Well, Mamhead gives you undeniable luxury in welcoming, almost homely surroundings. It offers exquisite buildings and gardens but still gives you space the make the house and estate your own. The estate is exceptionally well maintaining and managed and yet the little details are always attended to. Most importantly, it’s brilliantly flexible (no packages here!) rather than telling you what to do; you’re given choices and options galore. Mamhead Estate is quite simply superb. Its style and setting make it a dream luxury wedding venue in every sense of the word.
Every wedding at Mamhead is completely bespoke and every couple is provided with a personal quote that’s based on what areas of the Estate you’ll be using and what you require.
