Hello lovelies, Saturday afternoon deserves an extra dose of wedding inspiration I feel, and today it’s all about the flowers. Well, the absolutely delightful Belle and Bunty gowns too. These lovely images were sent in by photographer Helen Lisk, who teamed up with florist Charlie Ryrie of The Real Cut Flower Garden (a lady I worked with on my book and who is one of the most talented floral designers I know) to produce these English country garden inspired images set within the beautiful grounds of Mapperton House and Gardens.
Florist Charlie grows all the flowers she uses for The Real Cut Flower Garden’s floral arrangements, and in June she used an abundance of her soft coloured deeply scented roses as well as rich coloured peonies and cottage garden favourites. I’ll let photographer Helen Lisk explain a little about these images and leave them for you to fully enjoy at your leisure…
“If you dream of a perfect English country wedding, utterly relaxed but effortlessly beautiful, look no further than Mapperton House and Gardens. This idyllic Dorset wedding venue is a glorious historic manor house with its own chapel, a historic Orangery and secret gardens that may be the most magical in the country.”
“I wanted wanted the shoot to capture the essence of Mapperton and the flavour of an English Midsummer Dream, dressing the girls in softly elegant vintage-inspired dresses from Belle and Bunty.”
“I also wanted to use gently flowing bouquets of heavenly summer blooms that matched the soft beauty of Mapperton. Everything else was kept deliberately simple to allow the dresses and the flowers to stand out.”
Helen’s pictures perfectly capture the wonderfully relaxed feeling of the exquisite Mapperton Gardens, with its collection of Summer houses, rose walks, grassy banks and formal ponds…
“Couples marrying at Mapperton Gardens get to enjoy the whole gardens for a day, after a ceremony in the Chapel or in the pavilion at the edge of the magnificent croquet lawn. Sometimes a marquee is erected in front of the house, or intimate weddings can use the house or small barn complete with its own specially commissioned marriage hangings. The number of weddings each year is restricted as Mapperton is still first and foremost a family home, which may be why it feels so very special.”
How absolutely beautiful! I hope that these images have inspired you this afternoon. Please take a moment to explore the websites of the talented suppliers below.
