OK, so I’ll say it right upfront – I LOVE today’s feature. I’m genuinely over the moon to write about these simply brilliant accessories for men and, not only that, the creative company in question has a name you’ll never forget. Le Colonel Moutarde is here to give your groom, groomsmen, fathers and indeed any chap a dash of personality and a big hit of individuality. So, let’s get acquainted with Le Colonel…
Le Colonel Moutarde is the brainchild of Clemence and Remi, a super dapper French couple who are inspired by new trends and fashions. They specialise in men’s accessories and their range of bow ties, pocket squares, cufflinks and even mini versions for stylish boys is most definitely worth investigating.
“We launched Le Colonel Moutarde for fun back in 2011 when Remi was looking for an original bow tie but couldn’t find anything special,” explains Clemence. “Remi decided to create his own and Le Colonel Moutarde was born.”
“When we first started, the business was just a hobby but the demand grew and grew and we’ve been working full-time on the Le Colonel Moutarde for two years and we’re now known as bow tie specialists!”
I am absolutely smitten with the bow ties from Le Colonel Moutarde. These products are undeniably cool and refreshing but they’re also refined and almost elegant. As you’ll see from their online shop, the choice of colours and patterns is almost never-ending and I just can’t choose a favourite. Yes, these really are the perfect finishing touches for a chap’s wedding day outfit.
“We have the world’s biggest collection of bow ties made with Liberty fabrics,” says Remi. “And we’ve also just started a range made with Japanese fabrics that are just amazing. Our base in Lille houses our first shop and our workshop and thanks to our website, we ship right around the world. We’re totally dedicated to bow ties and when you’re so focused on what you do, you do it right!”
Remi’s eye for the unusual ensures that Le Colonel Moutarde’s collection is always evolving. He starts the process by making trial bow ties with leather, denim or vintage fabrics and as there are, surprisingly, thousands of possibilities for the shape the design, Remi has the brilliant job of playing for hours to make sure that the finished products are spot-on perfect.
Happily for UK readers, if you’d like to give your man a bit of bow tie beauty, there’s no need to visit Lille to step inside a Le Colonel Moutarde boutique. If you make your way to London and head to 10 Cheshire Street, E2 6EH, you’ll be welcomed into a shop that’s a wonderful mix of the casual yet professional.
“We like to say that we create affordable designer products,” says Clemence. “Every piece is made to the highest quality but we always focus on price too. It doesn’t need to cost a fortune to make a stylish statement.”
Bow ties from Le Colonel Moutarde are available for less than £30. All of their pocket squares are just £12 whilst cufflinks are £20. You can browse the full collections online and the bespoke options is just as affordable – what a great gift for groomsmen.
