I’m about to share an utterly delightful wedding where the bride and groom chose the charming historical setting of The Queen’s House in Greenwich, London for their summer nuptials.
Mr and Mrs H, who work in the fields of investment banking and financial technology, married on the 1st of July 2017 and brought elements of their heritages together for their stylish fusion wedding. The bride wore a stunning Jesús Peiró gown found via Morgan Davies Bridal in London. Take a peek at more beautiful dresses by this incredible designer in our Look Book here.
“I think I tried on every simple white satin ball gown at every bridal shop in Greater London! Finally the wonderful Sioban from Morgan Davies helped me merge the styles of two different Jesús Peiró dresses together for my bespoke style. They also designed a sheer tulle topper to wear during the ceremony.”

“As we had so many guests coming over from the US, we wanted a venue that had that ‘wow factor’ – something that was quintessentially British, with history, charm, and glamour. The house was so grand that we wanted to keep everything else simple and classic, though we also wanted to integrate some of my Californian roots and culture with my husband’s British upbringing.”
“Our photographer, Kate Nielen, managed to capture the beauty, light and laughter of the day, all the while making us feel comfortable and at ease.”
The couple enlisted the expert help from wedding planner Krissy from Sweetpea & Blossom Wedding and Events, who they discovered via our blog and is a member of the Little Book for Brides, a most handy resource to help with all of your upcoming wedding plans.
“Trung and I met in London in December 2012. I had organised a conference through work focused on healthcare investors, and Trung was invited as he previously worked with one of my colleagues. We met briefly. When I followed up with all attendees for marketing purposes, he responded with a very banter-filled email. I went in a few weeks later to do a product demo where I felt like I was absolutely on fire.”
“He asked me to lunch afterwards and we went on our first date the following Friday night. Trung proposed on January 1, 2016. We hiked to the top of Hanakapiai Falls on the Na Pali coast in Kauai. We swam underneath the waterfall and he proposed as we were sitting on the rocks behind the falls. It was magical.”
The beautiful bride added a hair clip from ASOS and gold metallic shoes from Clarks to ensure comfort came first!
“I didn’t want anything to hold me back from dancing my tail off.”
Palette Events took care of the flowers and totally understood the brief of the two different styles the couple were looking for.
“The ceremony and wedding breakfast was full of jewel-toned flowers and candles with a more traditional feel and the evening party took place in the undercroft which had a cool all-white contemporary feel to it, with white hydrangeas and striking stand out contemporary designs.”
The bridesmaid’s donned lovely floor-length flowing gowns and the pretty flower girl wore a David’s Bridal dress and a sweet flower crown. Hair was by Chloe Everett with make up by Donna Robinson.
“I accessorised with a diamond necklace that was originally my grandmother’s and earrings that my father had given to my mom when she finished graduate school.”
Mr and Mrs H arranged for two different companies to prepare their stylish wedding stationery.
“We had our wedding invitations made by Wedding Paper Chic in Australia as we loved their designs. We had a very chic invite – it was black, white and gold with foil accents and letter pressed on card. On the day stationery was by MangoTreeLondon to tie in with the invitation design.”
The groom and his groomsmen sported smart tails from Ted Baker for Moss Bross paired with a white tie and pocket square and brown shoes with socks from Paul Smith. The wee little helpers wore attire from Marks and Spencer.
“My dad accompanied me for the aisle walk to the rousing tune of ‘Hoppípolla’ by Sigur Rós. We exchanged rings from 77 Diamonds and our celebrant, Yvonne Beck, helped us create custom vows that affirmed our partnership:
Today, surrounded by people who love us, I choose you Nicole, to be my wife. I am proud to be your husband, and to join my life with yours in marriage. I vow to support you, listen to you, inspire you and above all love you.”
“We wanted to have readings that focused on partnership, hope, and happiness. We had the ‘Blessing of Hands’ and ‘The Apache Wedding Blessing’, which is below:
Now you will feel no storms, for each of you will be shelter to the other. Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other. Now there is no loneliness, for each of you is companion to the other, You are two persons, but there is one life before you, and one home. Turn together to look at the road you traveled, to reach this—the hour of your happiness. It stretches behind you into the past. Look to the future that lies ahead. A long and winding, adventure-filled road, whose every turn means discovery, new hopes, new joys, new laughter, and a few shared tears. May happiness be your companion, May beauty surround you both in the journey ahead; And through all the years to come. Go this day to your dwelling place and enter into your days together. May your days be good and long upon the earth. Your adventure has just begun.”
“We also incorporated a rose ceremony where we presented our parents with a rose each. This was a surprise and a way to acknowledge our deepest appreciation for everything they have done to support, nurture and enrich our lives, particularly in the distance we’ve spent away from home and will spend as we navigate our bi-cultural marriage.”
The first part of the couple’s wedding had a very traditional English feel to it, whilst the evening was a cool, all-white contemporary nightclub – so two very different settings. With a nod to the British side, guests travelled in red double decker buses via Traditional Travel and the bride in a white London taxi and the couple arranged a full scale London red replica telephone booth photo booth to add a bit of fun. The evening food was a nod to the US side with sloppy joe’s, buttermilk chicken and Oreo ice-cream with cookies.
They also had a surprise American flash mob dance to Tom Petty’s ‘American Girl’ performed by friends and family, which proved to be a huge hit!
Blossom and Crumb supplied the delectable three-tiered buttercream cake, which was dressed with fresh flowers.
The wedding band, The Brightside via Warble Entertainment, played funky tunes and a DJ via Prelude Entertainment entertained to keep everyone on the dance floor into the night.
“We chose ‘You are the Best Thing’ by Ray LaMontagne. We hadn’t done much dancing together (and are pretty rubbish individually), so for my birthday Trung booked dance lessons for us through the Ultimate Wedding Dance Company London. Their brilliant instructor came to our house once a week for six weeks to help us choreograph our first dance. It boosted our confidence on our day, but was really fun bonding experience leading up to it.”
“My favourite moment was having both of our worlds come together in celebration and joy; to see my friends from growing up in California sitting at a table with the new ones forged in London.”
Words of Wedded Wisdom
“Get a wedding planner! Hands down, the best decision we made and worth every penny. There is no reason to get bogged down in details like what water glasses and cutlery to choose, or how many serving staff you’ll need or coordinating getting the bouquets to the hotel. There are so many decisions that need to be made in a wedding from what venue to choose down to what table settings you’ll use – a wedding planner can help free up bandwidth to focus on the big decisions that are important to you rather than small details that no one will even notice.”
“Also, they can provide valuable perspective on the price range of services and can often negotiate better rates given they will be repeat customers.
Definitely take time out of the day to have a moment (or several) with you and your partner alone. Soak it all in and appreciate all that is happening in front of you!”
Thank you so much to Kate for sharing the newlywed’s fabulous photos of their big day – the fun, laughter and love oozes in each photo. For more inspirational fusion weddings we’ve previously highlighted, see here.
