If there’s one thing about the wedding industry that always surprises and impresses me, it’s the creativity of the wonderful people that work in it.
Today’s feature proves just this because it’s a joy to welcome Jodie Hazlewood, hair and makeup artist extraordinaire, to showcase her brand-new range of chic and understated bridal hair accessories. The By Jodie Bijoux collection is, as you’re about to see, full of beautiful designs that are just perfect for brides.
Choosing hair accessories for your wedding day is always an exciting moment. These are the pieces that will finish your look and really bring your style to life. But, you also need to be a bit practical. Does the headpiece you’ve chosen work with the hairstyle you want? Will it be comfortable to wear and most of all, does it work with your budget? The By Jodie Bijoux collection can answer a definite ‘yes’ to all of those questions!
“I saw a huge gap in the market for effortless, light, good quality and well-priced wedding hair accessories designed by professional hair and makeup artists,” says Jodie. “I wanted to design a collection of accessories that I would want to wear – pretty, easy, comfortable, understated and chic.”
“I also wanted to create a curated edit of effortless wedding hair accessories for the modern bride and bridesmaids who are stylish but short on time. The team will help you match the right accessory so that it complements your wedding dress, venue and styling meaning you don’t have to trawl the entire internet.”
Having worked on over 500 weddings, Jodie is continually inspired by her stylish brides. She set out to design the three By Jodie Bijoux collections around the beautiful dresses, wedding details and hair and makeup ideas her brides show her.
Here’s Jodie to tell us more about each collection:
“The Le Marais Collection was inspired by our brides who are getting married in French chateaux, faded Italian villas and romantic country gardens. These designs encapsulate the cool Parisian girl who might be wearing an understated Laure de Sagazan or Halfpenny London dress and wans something simple to wear in her hair that highlights but doesn’t eclipse. I named this collection after my favourite area in Paris, Le Marais.”
“Next is The Hampstead Collection and for this, I was inspired by our brides marrying in the English and French countryside or near the ocean, surrounded by natural trailing foliage, beautiful greens and natural texture. I imagine this bride might be wearing a whimsical Temperley, Charlie Brear, Naomi Neoh or Charlotte Balbier dress and the name of this collection comes from the most beautiful and green of London’s suburbs, Hampstead.”
“Finally, there’s The Havana Collection and this is all about the faded vintage glamour of a Spanish style colonial city and the inspiration came from our brides having golden-hour, black-tie weddings wearing sparkling Anna Campbell, Jenny Packham or Maggie Sottero dresses. I wanted to create a look of understated glamour, using crystals in a vintage style and there was only one city I could name this after – Havana.”
I have to say that I love Jodie’s approach of designing accessories to work around the styles that she knows brides love. It’s fabulous to be able to read her descriptions of the collections and decide which you’re instantly drawn to. If you’ve already chosen your dress, how wonderful to be able to match your dress to the right collection of accessories, as Jodie’s done above. This ‘joined up’ approach really is special and it’s so useful if you want to create a shortlist of accessories that you know will work with your look.
“I’m so proud of these products! It’s been incredibly rewarding to design products that I know our brides will aesthetically love but will also be practical for a hairstylist to work with. Most importantly, I know that they are all comfortable to wear all day long and I’m so grateful to all my brides, they are my muse!”
