“We’ve both been taking personal photos for as long as we can remember and have always loved street photography, capturing natural moments,” explains Lou. “Weddings hold the same opportunities – to blend in and document what naturally happens in front of us.”
“When we were given the chance to photograph our first wedding, it felt like a natural fit. It was an amazing experience and we both just knew instantly that it was what we wanted to do with photography.”
From that point onwards, The Georges has been all about capturing honest, modern photographs that tell the story of your day. Lou and Tim’s style is very relaxed and informal and their couples tend to be pretty chilled out individuals who just want to be themselves on their wedding day.
“If you were to ask what makes our photographs special, we’d say it would be their honest and their natural feel,” says Tim. “We want our couples to look back at their day and remember exactly how it was – not just how it looked but also how it felt. Couples often tell us afterwards that they hardly realised we were there!”
I love that as well as documenting the atmosphere and story of the day, Lou and Tim always take a little time out with their couples and escape to somewhere special nearby. This gives you a chance to enjoy a few peaceful moments together, just walking and chatting together, while Lou and Tim discreetly create a few relaxed images that capture you both just being yourselves on a really momentous occasion.
“Pretty much everything inspires our work but we’re hugely inspired by art, design, music and of course, lots of photographers,” says Lou. “We always seem to have our heads in books, magazines and you’ll often find us wandering around exhibitions. We’re also constantly inspired by couples we meet who don’t compromise, who remain true to themselves and, as a result, make their day uniquely theirs.”

“Telling a full story is really important to us so we only photograph full days, from morning right through until late evening. We never put our cameras away until we’re happy that we’ve really captured the party atmosphere, usually leaving before things start to get a bit too messy!”
