Well, hello again! Been a fine old Summer hasn’t it, if somewhat manic!
Here at EYI Love Studio – creators of the most luxurious wedding stationery you ever will find, we had a wonderful time, with lots of family celebrations and so many incredible couples enlisting our services for stationery and getting themselves hitched, so congratulations to you all!
Today we’re taking it back to basics and talking about the true passion of our business, and the printing method most requested by our clients; hot foil printing. We adore everything about this incredible, centuries old process, from designing and arrival of the beautiful plates, to the stunning shimmer of the finished product.
From the ancient Egyptians to medieval monks, the history behind foil printing tells of royalty and riches. Throughout the ages this medium has been used to add beauty, signify wealth and is above all synonymous with style. This painstaking method of craftsmanship rings true to lovers of letterpress methods, but with the added element of up to the minute aesthetics through the use of metallic bling in abundance.
Our foil printing has come on leaps and bounds, with many an innovative technique being experimented with in our studio. We have our own preferred methods, combining luxuriously thick sheets with our machines, the unique care and attention of our own (sometimes) fair hands and a hint of design prowess to create some seriously glorious stationery suites.
Our expertly selected cards can be foiled in a variety of colours (we’ve experimented with everything from black to holographic!) through a method which involves engraving a bespoke metal plate with each individual design and then applying heat and pressure whilst merging a sheet of shimmering foil between plate and card.
The result? A stunning finish, complete with beautiful texture, deeply imprinted text and unparalleled shine.
It’s a labour intensive method, often leading to seemingly endless nights in the studio, hand finishing each and every individual piece of stationery to ensure the ultimate in luxury and love. However, it is what we have become known for, and we adore experimenting with different foiling methods and using different materials, including our very popular clear acrylic, to create innovative and exciting stationery suites.
Ever the engineer, Jack really takes to the challenge of moulding a unique idea to fit our method, adapting the process to ensure individuality for our bespoke clients and an unparalleled amount of care and attention.
