This beautiful wedding was captured by one of my favourite photographers ever, Georgina Harrison.
I’m super proud to be able to recommend this incredibly lovely and super talented photographer to you all all and it’s such a huge pleasure to be sharing her work again with you today. This is Olivia and Dave, who tied the knot on Saturday 2nd September 2023, with a traditiona ceremony at St Olave’s church in York, followed by a marquee reception at Newburgh Priory in Coxwold, York.
As well as being photographed beautifully by one Love My Dress recommended supplier, this classy wedding was planned and styled beautifully by another – Lindsay Whitwell of LW Events. Lindsay is absolutely fantastic and if you feel you need a guiding hand in planning and/or styling your wedding day, I thoroughly recommend her. Lindsay and her team love working with style-minded, fun couples, to help them create a an authentically perfect and memorable wedding day.
Bride Oliva chose an Alexandra Grecco gown from the Lovely Bride boutique in London, before slipping into a party outfit by The Own Studio for the evening celebrations. Enjoy!

The Dress
I wore an Alexandra Grecco from the Lovely Bride boutique in London and my veil and evening party outfit were from OWN Studio. It was a great experience at The OWN Studio – they were really great, their studio is super chic and they were really helpful getting the veil to me in time.
I wanted something classic for the ceremony and reception…and something ‘fun’, easy to dance in and with a bit of sparkle for the evening.

I wore my every day earrings and necklace – both from Missoma. Husband had bought me a diamond necklace but I’d opened the wrong thing on the morning of the wedding and so my bridesmaid brought it to the reception later and I wore it for the reception. My bridesmaids dresses were from Monsoon.
Amy George did makeup and she is wonderful, so calm and professional and very talented. I had Luan Bridal style my hair. My scent was Jo Malone’s ‘Lime, Basil & Mandarin’ – which is also my day to day perfume.

Transport
Our dear friend Alice’s Dad has a collection of classic cars and he very generously agreed for us to borrow one for our wedding day. Alice’s husband Joe drove me and my dad from home to the Church and Dave and I from the church to Newburgh Priory.
That journey to our reception venue was one of the absolute highlights of our day. They even had chilled champagne ready for us and popped the cork though the sun roof!
The Ceremony
We wanted to get married in St Olave’s Church as it means a lot to our family.
My father accompanied me into the ceremony, to the sound of Pachelbel’s Canon in D, played on the organ.
We exchanged traditional Christian vows and our readings included ‘A love Poem Between Two Lovers (Song of Solomon Chapter 2 verses 10-13, chapter 8 vs 6&7′, read by Dave’s sister.
The other reading was an adaptation of ‘Everybody’s Free to Wear Suncreen’ by Baz Luhrmann – adapted and read by my brother. The second reading was to add a bit of humour to the otherwise quite traditional church ceremony.
Our wedding rings were from Natalie Landale.
We loved coming out of the church as a married couple to lots of loved ones and confetti and then the car journey to our reception was very special – a bit of time to take everything in together with our dear friend driving us and some chilled champagne.
There were so many highlights though, our friends singing, the speeches, the dancefloor, walking into the marquee and seeing everyone we love together!

How They Met
We met on Valentine’s Day 2019 at Soho House. We’d both gone for drinks with friends and ended up chatting (we knew we had some mutual friends)
We got engaged in June 2022 in Fiskardo on the Greek Island, Kefalonia. Fiskardo is a special place for Olivia and her family as we’d been on many family holiday’s there (we were actually on a family holiday at the time!). We went for a golden hour walk to the lighthouse and with views over Fiskardo harbour Dave got down on one knee and popped the question. We then went for a lovely dinner…and then met up for a drink with Olivia’s parents…who were delighted.
We went to a bar overlooking the sea and it was the night of the Strawberry Moon.
Dave wore a navy morning coat, morning dress trousers and tie – all from Oliver Brown. His shoes were from Loake.
The Reception
We chose Newburgh Priory as our reception venue, for the beautiful old ruins and the lake – I love to be near water.
Styling wise, we used white tablecloths (obtained through our caterer) and lots of flowers and tapered candles! We had a disco ball over the dancefloor supplied by our Marquee company.
Our floral designer was Victoria Ivy Floral. I spent ages looking at florists as flowers were an important element of our day – I love flowers. Victoria was very patient and generous with her time in the lead up and I could see the romantic, English country garden style in her Instagram photo’s which is what attracted me to her.
The table flowers and flower rings in the marquee were absolutely beautiful. We were so happy with them.
We were hoping for a beautiful late summer’s day and we got so lucky. We had pictured having canapes and champagne in the old ruins and were so lucky that the day was exactly as we’d hoped for.
Our caterers were Homegrown Hospitality, who were absolutely amazing. We went for a bespoke menu of Yorkshire 28 day aged beef wrapped in palma ham with salsa verde, hasselback potatoes and a rocket, cherry tomato and parmesan salad. The beef was cooked to perfection which for over 100 guests was quite something. The canapes, bar and service were all amazing – highly recommend.
Our caterer supplied our guests with favours. They were little chocolate brownies and included gluten free bites for our gluten free guests.
Our cake was by Sweet Chic – Helen was amazing. We left our cake so last minute (even though it was our pudding) and we got so lucky that Helen had had some plans change and was available.
The cake was beautiful and absolutely delicious. Helen was so professional and so friendly in all of our comms with her. We trusted her immediately and just knew she’d do an amazing job, and she did!
Evening & Dancing
We hired The Twenty Somethings – they were an amazing band, super professional, communicative and so accommodating allowing two of our friends to sing with them.
Our first dance was to ‘Love You For A Long Time’, by Maggie Rogers. The words resonated and we both love the song!
Immediately after, we had our friend sing ‘You Got The Love’ by Florence And The Machine to get everyone to the dancefloor. Incredible (and the first live band Dave and I ever saw together).
Words of Wedded Wisdom
Try not to worry too much – I did, but when you’re there with all of your favourite people (family/friends) it can only be the best day ever. It was really our guests and the energy they brought who made our day.
Don’t be tempted to spend £££ on things that don’t reaaaaally matter, i.e., linen tablecloths instead of white tablecloths – they just get covered in red wine anyway!
We didn’t have a videographer and I mentioned to our friend, who is a Beauty Editor that this was my one regret about a week before the wedding. She secretly put together an incredible wedding video for us and it is so special and captures people’s personalities and the essence of our special day so perfectly.
