Charlotte and Nyuito’s beautiful, multi-cultural winter wedding, was held on 9th December 2023, at the Asylum Chapel in Peckham.
The bride’s studies in ancient history, quite possibly had some influence in the couple’s choice of locations and the overall aesthetics of the day; both their ceremony and later, their reception venue at Brunswick House in Vauxhall, carry a deep sense of faded glamour. Brunswick House is full of exquisite antique decor and furnishing and provided a sublime backdrop for the couple’s evening celebrations and party.
Nyuito was especially keen to celebrate his Ghanaian heritage, and so the couple changed in to Ghanian style attire later in the day – the photographs for which you have to see, they both look amazing.

The Dress
I wore the Lirio wedding dress by Cortana and my dress was from The Fall Bride in London, who I discovered on Love My Dress.
The Fall Bride were great! Very helpful and down to earth, and I would recommend.
The dress was classical and elegant (even on me), but still very comfortable. It was also unique – I hadn’t seen anything like it before.
I wore a pair of Miu miu ballet slippers and the Vera Triple X headband by Lelet – also from The Fall Bride.
My flower girls wore dresses by The Simple Folk, with cardigans from Trotters. My bridesmaids wore the Mara dress, in dark eucalyptus, from Jenny Yoo.
The Ceremony
We met in London and couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else! The venues are historical and picturesque but still fresh, and we didn’t want anything too traditional or fussy, so our ceremony took place at the Asylum Chapel in Peckham.
My parents walked down the aisle together and I walked afterwards. We tried to tailor our ceremony in order to celebrate our Scottish and Ghanian heritage.
We wrote our own vows and our readings were ‘Ithaka by Constantine P. Cavafy’ and ‘Sonnet 116’, by William Shakespeare.
The Reception
Our catering was provided by the Canababes and our cake was by Luminary Bakery, who also operate as social enterprise charity.
As gifts for our guests, we provided custom mugs from Ghana.
As well as styling all our flowers, my mum also took care of decorating our venues too.
Evening & Dancing
In the evening, we hired DJ James H from Stylish Wedding Disco. We did a first dance to ‘Dancing On My Own’, by Robyn – it’s one of our favourites.
