It’s always such a delight to share the work of our recommended suppliers and this romantic bridal editorial shot on location at The Guildhall in Chichester is a beautiful example of the creative talent we’re so proud to support through our wedding directory.

Conceived by Lucy Fergusson Photography, styled by Luna And The Lane and featuring gowns by Ailsa Munro Dress Maker, the shoot takes inspiration from Pre-Raphaelite art, with flowing silhouettes, rich plum florals and layers of soft texture throughout.

Set against the worn stone walls and soaring ceilings of the Guildhall, the styling combines abundant flowers by Whimsy’s Floral Design, draped fabrics, candlelight and antique textures in a way that suits the character of the building perfectly.

Lucy wove some gorgeous 35mm film photography through the editorial alongside digital imagery, bringing an extra softness and grain that work beautifully with the movement of the gowns, flowers and loose, romantic styling. Enjoy!

The vision for this shoot began with the idea of creating something that looked and felt like stepping into a painting, a scene full of romance and quiet storytelling. The mood is almost Pre-Raphaelite, with gowns that move softly and fluidly, their layers catching the light in a way that feels both ethereal and grounded.

The hair was styled into big, wild curls that echoed the untamed beauty often seen in those paintings. Together, the textures of fabric and hair brought a sense of natural drama and depth, beautifully complemented by the rich plum tones that wove through the flowers and styling

The Guildhall was the perfect backdrop, with its soaring ceilings and raw, unpolished historic character. It already holds a story within its walls, and it felt only natural to build on that atmosphere and create something layered and beautiful alongside the most incredible team of suppliers.

What I love most about this style is the way it feels so natural, as though it has simply unfolded on its own.

The table carries a subtle opulence, fruits and flowers scattered as if they’ve always belonged and fabrics draped with effortless grace. Nothing is placed too neatly, and it’s that gentle imperfection that makes the whole scene feel alive and deeply romantic.

To enhance that atmosphere, I wove in a few 35mm film photographs alongside the digital collection. The soft grain of film brings a gentle nostalgia, giving even the smallest details a timeless, painterly quality that feels completely in tune with the mood of romance we wanted to create.

To me, the beauty of this aesthetic lies in the atmosphere it creates: alive, soulful, and deeply personal. It’s less about curated details and more about a feeling, a celebration that unfolds like a love story couples can simply step into.

As soon as Lucy, our photographer, sent through the vision for this styled shoot I knew I could bring it to life through the medium of flowers, creating depth, drama and celebrating the beauty, art and history of such an enchanting building in the heart of my home city Chichester.

Using the language of flowers we created dramatic, whimsical flower installations for the tables and ceremony, using lots of local grown stems, we got to play with beautiful dynamic flowers mixed with the textiles and textures of the Guildhall, overall a collaborative day spent with an amazing group of women wedding suppliers bringing dreams to life”

Hannah, Whimsy’s Floral Design

“We designed a whimsical, ethereal aesthetic using a mix of flowing fabrics, which were used both on the dining tables and the ceremony plinths, married with delicate, natural tableware such as clay and glass vases and porcelain.

The aim was to keep the table settings light and airy and matching this with vintage wooden chairs created a sense of it being natural, earthy and pretty. The colour palette of cream and butter yellow allowed it to seem airy. The addition of the darkest plum accent cut through to make a dramatic statement.”
