Bridal Inspiration Boards #2 ~ 1920s Art Deco and The Flapper…

Following on from last week's debut bridal inspiration board, I thought I'd work on a theme this week, rather than simply a colour, and have chosen to focus on the 1920's  and Art Deco, Flapper style.

The 1920s Art Deco look is popular with Brides who favour the 'vintage' inspired look. It's not hard to see why – this era oozed style, fun and sophistication. I simply adore the marcel wave hair styles popular at the time (more on how to achieve this look on Monday when Severin Hubert of Hepburn Collection talks to Love My Dress) and the beaded and fringed flapper frocks.  There was a real sense of decadence present at the time as people began to embrace life after the end of the First World War, and socially, a great many changes were taking lace.  Women were liberated, so waist lines dropped, hem lines rose and the flapper girl was born!

If you are interested in working with 1920's style in planning your wedding, think art deco, gangsters and molls, a speak easy bar, black and white tie, peacock feathers, Bonnie and Clyde, The Great Gatsby, marcel waves, long pearl necklaces, feathered head pieces, mid-heel round toed t-bar shoes, silent movies, the charleston and Humphrey Bogart.

I hope anyone inspired by the bridal fashions of the 1920s, moving into the 1930's is inspired by these boards…
