The Lovettes, Hannah & Chris – One Month To Go To Their Happy Valley Norfolk Wedding

hannah and chris

Our blogging bride and Lovettes member Hannah is due to marry her fiancé Chris at Happy Valley, Norfolk on 11th July this year – that’s about a months time! Hannah and Chris’s wedding will be photographed by Red on Blonde. You can connect with Hannah on Instagram and through Pinterest too and read her previous Lovettes features here.  This is Hannah’s second post for Love My Dress.  Enjoy!

We are now in the final month before the ‘big day’! The old clichés of ‘time flying’ embraced and still the ‘To-Do’ list seems to grow each time I write it (probably about 15 times – decided it was a good way of practising my calligraphy?!)

Currently at the top of the list is deciding on the menu – gulp?! – I can spend 20minutes internally debating the pros/cons of a sandwich/wrap/salad (much to any companions’ distress) so this decision is proving particularly tricky! Thankfully Julia at Purple Plum is very patient and I am confident that whatever we go for will be delicious!

As I previously ‘hinted’ I am ridiculously indecisive and really not very creative, but worse than that while I am not sure what it is that I want, I know what I don’t want when I see it(if that makes any sense?!) – i.e. a nightmare when it comes to delegation – if I don’t know what I want, how would anyone else?!

Choosing to get married just over a month after finals, however, has meant that the generous offers of help from talented friends and relatives have been key in keeping the preparation ticking over, while my own ‘activity’ has been pretty much nil since March with the pressures of revision!

My parents’ garage is full of bits and bobs, largely courtesy of my Auntie Ju – the absolute best person to take to a car boot sale, ace at finding hidden gems, shabby chic-ing and such a giggle! Both mums and a friend are growing flowers, a cousin is tackling metres of material for table runners and my riding instructor gave the local farrier a way of recycling old horse-shoes whichmy granddad is thoroughly ‘enjoying’ cleaning!

Chris’ brother at StagDesign made my ‘bespoke’(!) bridesmaid and flowergirl invitations – little wooden hearts – and is currently helping with ideas for favours (I attempted jam-making once and it did not go well…!)and a guestbook.

Chris himself has been amazing – not only putting up with a super stressy me, but showcasing his artistic abilities in illustrating the map for the invites, building crates from old pallets, and stamping galore!

We’re still not exactly certain of all the details of the day but now I am back ‘on it’ and super excited to be able to fully immerse myself in the planning! We have finally sorted the bridesmaid dresses, incidentally thanks to my wonderful florist Jo Flowers, another amazing lady who, luckily for me, has creativity in (buckets and)spades!

While I in no way advocate planning a wedding during finals, it is a fact that we are all busy busy people and there may never seem a ‘perfect’ time to have babies/move house/get married as there will always be multiple demands on our time, interfering majorly with the planning focus!

At these times we become ridiculously aware of the strengths/talents of those around us, and I am so grateful for their support and help and patience, not least from my bridesmaids who have been the best sounding boards, revision buddies, and friends!

Love Hannah x
