Hello lovely readers, we’re glad to have you with us on this ‘Pancake’ Tuesday. I love that it’s one of the only days of the year that it’s totally acceptable to have dessert for dinner, I will be whipping up a batch later and drowning them in sugar and lemon juice. But on to the reason we are here!
Emma and Ash married in a gorgeous open-air ceremony conducted by The Ceremony Company on the 11th of July 2015 at The Hideaway, Baxby Manor, in Husthwaite, near York. They asked their guests to dress in country chic style, the newlyweds used their trusty Landrover Defender as their transport for the day and the bride had pheasant feathers sticking out of her stunning bouquet. It really is as fabulous as it sounds and Sarah of Folega Photography was on hand to make sure not a detail was missed.
“We wanted a relaxed celebration, incorporating the countryside and the outdoors as much as possible. As soon as we found The Hideaway we knew it was the place. It’s secluded with beautiful scenery but we also chose it because of how laid-back they were. We had access for the whole weekend allowing guests to stay on site in bell tents, creating a mini festival vibe.”

Emma chose the stunning Eden by Jenny Packham from The White Closet to wear on her wedding day. Jane Corbett of Blooming Yorkshire made Emma a gorgeous flower crown which sat above her long veil and she wore a pair of French Sole flats.
“I fell in love with the dress the moment I saw it. I wanted to be comfortable on the day and I was looking for something with little or no structure. The dress provided me with the comfort but also with the beautiful elegance through the detail and beading. As soon as I put in on I knew it was for me.”Becca Hunton took charge of the ladies’ hair including Emma’s gorgeous fishtail plait and Debbie Clintworth did their make-up. Both were brilliant recommendations from friends.
“I wore Blackberry and Bay by Jo Malone, my favourite perfume, with a diamond necklace borrowed from a bridesmaid and an Astley Clarke bracelet given to me on my hen night. Ash gave me a beautiful Tiffany & Co. on morning of wedding.”
I’m blown away by the bouquets, they are some of the nicest I have seen in a long time. Jane Corbett of Blooming Yorkshire did a fabulous job of the flowers from those stunning bouquets to the gorgeous flower crowns donned by the bride and her bridesmaids.
Emma’s dad Alan walked her down the aisle to ‘Isn’t She Lovely’ which Ash chose.
“We hadn’t chosen music for the ceremony so I left this with Ash the night before so that he could put a playlist together.
The ceremony was performed by Louise of The Ceremony Company, she worked with Emma and Ash to create their personalised ceremony. Instead of saying personal vows to each other, they had the great idea to each write a letter for a memory box to remind them in the future of their love and why they made the commitment to marry.
They chose an extract from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and adapted a poem for their readings. They made the poem very personal to get a few giggles from the guests, a lovely way to relax everyone during the ceremony.
“Our rings were purchased from David Search Jewellers in Southport. Ash decided on a rose gold wedding band but I couldn’t resist the lure of sparkle.”
“We met when Ash made an impromptu visit to Leeds with a mutual friend. We started dating a few months later and spent nine amazing years together before Ash proposed. We got married just over a year later.”
The couple were delighted with the gorgeous images shot by Sarah Folega of Folega Photography. The light is beautiful and she has perfectly captured the joy of the day.
“Sarah was fantastic. She understood our laid back approach and captured the moments we feel normally get ignored (when you think no one is watching) and she stayed well into the evening making sure that nothing was missed.”
“The beams of the tipi were decorated with fairy lights and a family friend donated a huge reel of bunting for us to hang around the tipi. We added pom poms and paper tassels for extra decoration.
I dressed the tables with vintage lace doilies and hand decorated glass jars filled with wildflowers or candles. I also made wine coolers from large tins of tomatoes collected by my nana.”
“Catering was provided by The Hog and Apple, highly recommended by our venue and it was all fantastic. They gave us the perfect picnic style lunch with a spectacular Hog Roast in the evening to keep the guests dancing through the night.”
“We found our band ‘The Crazy Knights’ through Hire a Band which made the job so much easier. They played a lovely acoustic set in the afternoon before the full band set up for the evening and went down a storm. The guests were even dancing during the warm up so they had to start sooner than anticipated!”
The band played ‘Love You Till The End’ by The Pogues for the couple’s first dance, putting their own twist on it gave the song a different feel to the original.
“It’s so difficult to pick a favourite part of the day. It was all so amazing, from seeing each other for the first time to seeing our family and friends laughing while dancing the night away.”
We both had the most amazing day and want to remember it that way forever. I could have sent myself insane thinking about what I could have done but I wanted it to be a relaxing day for everyone and I truly believe guests can feel how you feel. Spread the love!!”
Words of Wedded Wisdom
“Enjoy every moment, especially the planning! It’s all part of the process and helped us to appreciate every second of our special day. If you have forgotten anything don’t worry, no one else will notice and it really won’t matter as long as you are with the special people in your life. Also, you may need to find a new hobby once the day is over!”
What fabulous words of wisdom from Emma. Thank you so much to the newlyweds for sharing the details of your beautiful day with us. Love also to the fabulous Sarah Folega for the stunning images. If this wedding has captured your attention, we have featured more tipi weddings on Love My Dress.
