The gorgeous Ellie and John tied the knot on 1st June this year with a registry ceremony followed by a reception The Fox and Hounds Restaurant and Pub at Hundson at Ware in Hertfordshire.

The stylish bride, who did most of the planning and styling herself, chose a chic and minimal asymmetric gown by Solace London and brought her love of dried flowers to her wedding day.

Laid back but full of effortless elegance. Thanks to photographer By Karolina for these beautiful photographs.

How They Met

We have been together since 2009 (13 years). We met in secondary school and didn’t start dating until we were in sixth form

We got engaged in 2017 on a summer holiday in Crete, in a sea cave! It was magical!

Shoes, Veil & Accessories

I bought my veil, second-hand off Ebay and I hand sewed little star busrts of beads along the edge of it, just to add a touch of shimmer.

I wore a little piece of fern from my bouquet in my hair.

All of my jewellery was designed by me and made by my father. Taking inspiration from our favourite trip together to Morocco, the earrings were casted from pieces of walnuts. My pearl bracelet was made using my mums old pearl necklace, strung onto a new clasp that I designed and made myself.

The gold bangle are two interlocking pieces (yellow gold and rose gold) to symbolise our unity. This was a gift from John.

My shoes were from Office.

Ceremony

We had a civil ceremony at the registry office, where my father accompanied me down the aisle.

The rings were designed by me and made by my father who is a jeweller.

Walking out of the registry as a married couple felt amazing and having all our loved ones waiting for us outside was very exciting.

Photography by Karolina

We chose Karolina of By Karolina as our wedding photograph, because from our initial meeting we instantly felt at ease with her. She had such a good vibe, super friendly and considered every little detail!

Karolina’s photographs looked so natural and fun and this exactly what we wanted.

Flowers

We chose My London Florist, who is not too far from our home and we absolutely loved them.

Visiting the store instantly brings me warmth and happiness, it’s so beautifully decorated and they have the most gorgeous array of flowers, fresh and dried.

A Solace London Wedding Dress

My Solace London dress was extremely minimal, but elegant and it was exactly what I wanted for our day. It fitted perfectly and ticked every box.

John’s suit was from Selected Homme and was exactly the colour we were looking for. It suited his complexion 1000 times more than a black or navy suit.

Modern, Minimal & Rustic Detail

The The Fox and Hound Restaurant and Pub is decorated so tastefully with a traditional English style that it didn’t need much at all. Our style is quite minimal and rustic, so we didn’t want to overcomplicate things.

I am obsessed with dried flowers and our house is full of them. I decided to create our own table arrangements using my collection of dried flowers, allowing guests to take them home as an extra wedding favour.

Our wedding favours were sourced from cancer research UK. They were lovely little feather brooches. We also gave Cypriot pastichio biscuits, which are traditional wedding favours in my culture. These were homemade by wonderful Cypriot baker.

The stationery was designed and made by me. I used the same coloured card of our invitations and hand wrote every body’s place cards.

We also laid out vintage brass candlesticks that I sourced from charity shops and Ebay and had glass bottles with dried flowers and pampass grass along with two vintage brass vases for the head table.

I came across her Instagram account and instantly knew that I wanted to order our cake from Katrina Belrain of Sweet Homemade. I had a clear idea of what I wanted and Katrina delivered. Moreover, the taste and texture of the cake was exceptional. We had a chocolate layer and a lemon layer. The chocolate was the best I have had!

Evening & Entertainment

We hired DJ Natty C for the evening. Our first dance though would have to be my favourite part! It was the most memorable moment.

Words of Wedded Wisdom

The whole day was like on constant fast-forward and if I had known, I would have perhaps slowed down a little bit and really soaked up every moment!

Our original budget was £10,000 and we didn’t exceed this!

Enjoy every moment of your day. Don’t let anything get you down. Soak everything up and really look. Embed those memories.
