Olliver Photography is husband and wife team Annie and Christian and they’ve been shooting reportage, documentary style weddings for nine years. Working from their base in London, they’ve travelled all over the UK in that time and all of us at Love My Dress love catching up with their latest work.
Although most of their UK work tends to be urban, London-esque weddings, Olliver Photography love a country shindig almost as much as they love travelling so the time has come to expand into destination weddings and they’re looking forward to bringing their special brand of relaxed photography to Europe and beyond.
“We share a love of photography and wanted to start a business that allowed us to work together creatively and follow our passion,” explains Christian. “Our style is very relaxed, informal and friendly. We’ll capture the narrative of your day, at a distance. There won’t be any pushy, cheesy or posey shots! Instead, we achieve natural images, inspired by light and true moments.”
I love Olliver Photography’s work. There’s an obsession with the little details that makes me sigh with happiness and their understanding of natural light is just sublime. Natural light wedding photography makes for the most exquisite images – light can lift a subject from being something ordinary to being something beautiful.
“We draw on many influences but we’re mostly inspired by the couple themselves, what’s important to them and the setting itself,” explains Annie. “For example, at an urban London wedding, we’re inspired by the local architecture and the vibrancy of the people around us because it’s all those details that make a place special.”
“When we’re working overseas, at a chateaux wedding for example, we’re inspired by the rolling landscape, fields of sunflowers that stretch out as far as the eye can see, sunlit lemon trees, the stone of the buildings and the shafts of light hitting the tile floor. It’s this sense of place that really helps to frame the whole experience of the day.”
I think that approach is just fabulous, especially at destination weddings when the place seems to be so incredibly important. When your wedding location isn’t local or it’s somewhere that you might never even visit again, it’s all the more magical to have that expressed in your wedding photographs and Olliver Photography understand that in a way that’s totally intuitive.
