Lovelies, I have a feeling you’re going to fall in love with today’s wedding. A cool, urban backdrop of London, a joyous colour palette of bright orange and exotic flowers and the dreamiest bespoke gown… have I piqued your curiosity yet?
The bride and groom are Jordan, a learning support practitioner and James, a security officer, who married on 5 April 2018 with an intimate ceremony at the iconic Islington Town Hall with a dinner party reception at Dalston restaurant Jones & Sons. Jordan’s inspiration was ‘tropical boho’, featuring bright pops of colour against a cool, modern backdrop.
“We live in north London, so we wanted to keep it local, plus Islington Town Hall is a stunning venue. Jones & Sons is a really cool restaurant in east London which had a great feel for the type of wedding we wanted.”

Jordan looked breathtaking in her bespoke gown by No One Famous Tailoring. I simply love those wide and delicate appliquéed lace sleeves – they create such a romantic silhouette whilst still having a cool vibe thanks to the fitted bodice and deep, sexy split in the skirt. I’m sure you agree that she looks show-stopping as she walks up the aisle at the Town Hall.Jordan and her bridesmaids got ready together at home, where Shiama Young styled their hair and make-up. The bride wore her long hair to one side to show off her edgy undercut, adding a bridal twist with a cluster of fresh gypsophila. Kurt Geiger heels along with statement chandelier earrings and anklets from Topshop finished off her look. Her make-up is so dramatic, really highlighting her high bone-structure and gorgeous eyes. I love the smokey eye with its pop of colour – a lovely way to pick up on the oranges of the flowers.
A friend of a friend put together the bride’s gorgeous bouquet – full of tropical colour and exotic flowers. I could hardly believe it when I found out that the rest of the flowers were put together by the bride using supermarket flowers – she is so talented.
Having worn pastel colours for much of my adult life, I’m only just beginning to embrace the world of brights, and these bridesmaids’ gowns have really inspired me to try deep orange – they are absolutely divine. From Debenhams, the wrap-around style and elegant drape is so flattering.
Keeping things relaxed, Jordan travelled to the ceremony in an Uber cab. She looks so radiant and happy, and I love that the couple chose to approach the registrar to exchange vows together as Emeli Sandé’s ‘Beneath Your Beautiful’ played.
“I entered alone, and James walked down to meet me and then we walked down the aisle together.”
The orange was picked up in James’ outfit too. He wore a tweed suit in light grey from Walker Slater, finishing with Dune shoes, a bright orange tie and a kingfisher blue pocket square. He and his groomsmen, who wore ASOS suits, look the epitome of cool in these photographs.
The couple chose vows from the Town Hall’s selection, and exchanged rings from Etsy.
“We had a reading from Maya Angelou and also a personal poem written by the best man.”

It’s clear just how happy Jordan and James are after they have married, and photographer Marshal Gray has captured all of their emotions so well. After the ceremony, the newly-weds spent time alone together for some portrait shots.
I adore the raw, urban style of these and how they highlight Jordan’s gown in all of its romantic elegance. Marshal Gray has a real eye for detail; these photographs show how he’s fantastic at capturing intimate moments and urban landscapes as well as the joyful atmosphere of a wedding.
Later in the day the newly-weds and their party of guests made their way to Jones & Sons, which they’d transformed into a cool party venue.
As well as artificial flowers from IKEA, statement light-up letters and lanterns, they had a temporary tattoo station from Doris Loves and a photobooth from Showtime Photobooth – so much fun.
The wedding dinner was cooked up by Jones & Son, and this was the bride’s favourite part of the day.
“The dinner was the part of the day where I could (sort of) relax. We had our close friends on our table so it was nice to have a laugh with them over some amazing food and wine.”
“We had scratch cards as favours which went down very well as we had a few guests that won.”
The reception looks so relaxed and informal, with guests getting up to make ad hoc speeches and the newly-weds relaxing with family and friends. Oh, and Jordan and James had a first dance to an acoustic version of Sam Smith’s ‘Latch’.
Jordan and James opted for a ‘deconstructed’ wedding cake from Paddy Cakes. Three separate cakes in carrot, Baileys & Guinness and Red Velvet, they were finished off with macarons and sugar glass – what a masterpiece!
Words of Wedded Wisdom
“Plan a day that you and you partner would both find fun! If you are having a great time then everyone else will too. And whatever you do, don’t kill yourself trying to please everyone else because that’s an impossible task.”
“There will always be that one person(s) that complains or is unhappy about something. Avoid the stress and just do what makes you both happy; after all it is your wedding!”
Thank you so much Jordan and James for letting us share your beautiful day today. I love the bright colour palette and your bespoke appliquéed gown is so incredibly special. Thank you also to photographer Marshal Gray for your fabulous work.
