How Did Shropshire Petals come about?

We are a family business originally set up by Michael and Rosemary Bubb. Michael’s mother Daisy used to dry flowers and sell them at WI markets. A customer asked if they could dye some petals to be used as confetti. Rosemary suggested the customer use some of our delphinium petals which are not dyed or coloured to try this as confetti…and Shropshire Petals was born!

The call for natural petal confetti began as churches and venues preferred it to the paper or synthetic confetti. As people became
more environmentally conscious, the demand for bio-degradable natural petals increased.

What do you love about creating real petal confetti?

We love watching an empty field bloom into flower, then seeing the delicate delphiniums carefully handpicked, de-petalled, dried and sieved so that only the very best petals are stored, ready to fill our customer orders.

Everyone here at Shropshire Petals loves receiving photographs from our brides and grooms too, knowing that the confetti thrown during those joyful wedding moments, and all the natural smiles they inspire, was grown right here on our little farm in Shropshire.

From field to photo, we get to witness the whole process before it begins all over again.

Our confetti is 100% natural, with no dyes or artificial colours added to any of our petals, and will biodegrade within just a few days, gently returning to nature where it came from.

Every petal is delicately handpicked on our Shropshire farm, adding an extra special touch to every order. Throwing confetti over a newly married couple has been a wedding tradition for centuries, and natural petals remain one of the most beautiful, romantic and eco-friendly ways to celebrate the moment.

Can you share some tips and lovely ways to use natural confetti throughout your wedding day:

Of course!

♥ The confetti shot will almost certainly become one of the most joyful and natural photographs from your wedding day, so choosing petals that complement or contrast beautifully with your colour palette can create truly magical images.

♥ Use natural petals to create unique table centrepieces, perhaps surrounding large candles with rose petals in your chosen wedding colours.

♥ Add a few rose petals to champagne glasses for an extra romantic touch during your wedding toast.

♥ Scatter delphinium petals across crisp white tablecloths to add softness and colour to buffet or dining tables.

♥ For a countryside wedding, tie small bundles of lavender and wheat to the backs of chairs for a beautifully rustic, natural feel.

♥ Decorate cupcakes with rose petals before gifting them to guests as thoughtful wedding favours.

♥ Create a heart shape from raspberry delphinium petals around your wedding cake for a simple but striking decorative detail.

♥ Confetti is not just for the wedding day itself. Save a handful of petals for afterwards and scatter them into a warm bath to celebrate your anniversary or Valentine’s Day together.
