Morning! 🙂 A simply fabulous wedding on Love My Dress this morning, and one I've been really keen to share with you 🙂
Today it's all about Evie and Dave, who tied the knot on 1 November 2010 with a ceremony at St Mary's Church in Euxton, followed by a reception at Northcote Manor, in Langho.
I think it's probably obvious immediately why I so fell for this fabulous wedding, but I'll give you a little clue. It's blue.
Pale blue.
That dress! Oh, the dress….
"I made the dress myself – details of the 1950's dress pattern, fabric, shoes, hat and accessories can all be found on my blog. I have a passion for the 50's which I suspect stems from a childhood spent watching Fred and Ginger, Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn films with my Grandfather.
Also, I wanted something that wasn't a traditional wedding dress, either in style or colour. This fabric is exactly the same colour as my engagement ring, so I simply had to make my wedding dress out of it.
We wanted old style glamour inspired by classic movies. Think Grace Kelly in High Society!"

I love Evie's choice of blue, and these navy pieces below really I adore (navy is my favorite colour). Those gorgeous shoes are L K Bennett and the fabulous vintage style birdcage veil headpiece was from John Lewis…
"My vintage engagement ring was the inspiration for the colour scheme…"
"The pearls are vintage – they were my maternal grandmother’s…"
The beautiful blue Bridesmaids drsses were also made by Evie…
Evie applied her own makeup, but had her hair styled by Hair by Hair4U of Chorley…
"My stockings were from Touchable….I would buy a size smaller next time!"
A quick spray of perfume…
Dave wore a Marks and Spencer's suit…
"I walked down the aisle to 'The Wedding' by Julie Rogers, which was the music my Mum and late father walked down the aisle to when they got married…"
The couple had white gold D bands from their local jewellers, Krishan's in Chorley…
The couple chose Northcote Manor, in Langho for their reception…
"We chose this venue based on it's reputation for excellent food and exquisite service. We weren't disappointed. Also, their private dining room provided the intimate setting we we looking for."
All food was cooked by award winning, Michelin starred chefs Nigel Haworth and Lisa Allen at Northcote Manor, and the wedding party were even able to watch the Chef's at work via a video link to the kitchen!
"Northcote Manor, did a marvellous job with the room. Most notable was the use of mini weaving shuttles as napkin rings. As we live in Lancashire which has a rich heritage of cotton weaving, these were a fabulous touch that we appreciated…"
Red Velvet Cupcakes from The Little House of Cupcakes in Thornton were chosen over a more traditional layered wedding cake…
"We didn’t want a traditional wedding cake, and everyone loves a cupcake. It was an easy decision, especially when we tasted Katie's delicious confections. The only difficulty was chosing which flavour to go with. We selflessly tried several different flavours before deciding on the Red Velvet!"
"We love Christmas day, with all the family around us,lingering for hours over lovely food and wine. We really wanted the wedding to be a larger, more glamourous version of this, and I'm glad to say, we pulled it off…"
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
"Enjoy it. God willing you'll only be doing this once, so even if it gets a bit stressful, remember why you're doing this, take a deep breath, and relax.
Take the help that people offered; I'm eternally greateful to my husband, my mother and my mother in law, who entertained the children so I could sew dresses. Also to my mother who knitted shrugs so the bridesmaids didn't freeze. And my friends who provided tea, cake and sanity when it all got a little much.
Oh, and it's your day, so if you want to wear purple, only invite 5 people and serve sausage and mash because that's what you ate on your first date, then do it!
If I was ever to be stuck in Groundhog Day, then our wedding day would be the day I would choose; everyone has a picture in their head of what their wedding day will be like….I'm so blessed that the day was even more magical than I could have hoped for."
Awwww!! *sob* I so LOVE a heart-warming wedding day story! 🙂
These wonderful wedding photographs were sent in by The Lawsons, who Evie says are…
"…simply the best wedding photographers in the world, in my opinion, and lovely lovely people to boot!"
I have to say, they aren't bad!! {they're actually amazingly good and you should definitely go check out their website if you're looking for a Photographer). You can see more from Lawson Photography on the Love My Dress Wedding Blog here.
I hope you all enjoyed this beautiful wedding as much as I 🙂
Much love,
