I'm going to hand right on over to Jennie Beard of Hansley Beard Event Planning and Design specialists in Sheffield this afternoon, to talk us through this beautiful photoshoot designed to inspire the vintage loving Bride…
“After working with the brilliant Jon from S6 Photography on a previous photoshoot to promote our vintage crockery and props, I asked if he was up for doing another one, but this time using some of our ‘Blue and White Willow Ware’ crockery hire collection. If you’re going for a blue themed wedding with a vintage twist it’s a great way to beautify your tables very simply – the key is in the repetition and sticking to a similar type of crockery.
When it came to dressing the models, the image of Keira Knightley in the film Atonement wearing a navy blue dress and hat inspired me, so I looked into our collection and found whatever vintage dresses and accessories we already had in navy blue. Danielle Lara Couture from Sheffield also agreed to lend us some of the amazing handmade wedding dresses from their vintage collection.
Some of the dresses were more 1950s and 1960s style but fitted the youthful fun personalities of the models perfectly! Sophie from Imogen’s Imagination lent us some of her vintage hats and made us a signature button hat to match our theme. Our make-up artist and hairstylist Shannon Leigh was wonderful and captured our ‘smoky’ vintage look perfectly…"

"Having worked with Sheffield Town Hall on recent events I asked if they would be happy to host our shoot as I felt its dark wooden rooms, marble stairs and historical features would create an excellent setting for our vintage theme.
Within Sheffield it is amongst the most authentically historical venues available for vintage weddings and events. On the day they even gave us special access to take photographs in the Lord Mayor’s Parlour. As smaller intimate weddings are currently on trend, we decided to dress and style one of their smaller rooms for the wedding breakfast, using one of the long committee tables; adorned with crockery from Hansley Beard, Sheffield-made silver cutlery from Sheffield Town Hall and flowers from Swallows and Damsons ~ hydrangeas, lilac, anemones, tulips, eucalyptus, gypsophilia…"
"Starting with our blue and white theme (with hints of purple!), I mixed it up with old linens and pieces of lace, old art deco buttons, silverware and crystal glassware. I then chose items from our Hire collection that had a distinctive dark wood feel and developed the theme around the 1930s and 1940s. I used a selection of our vintage typewriters and old office equipment for the guest book area.
For the place names I bought some lace-inspired place name cards from John Lewis and embellished them with some old discarded stationery fittings which I’d recovered many years ago when working in an Archive. Kath from Bloom Textiles made some lace napkins from old chair back covers and my assistant Jodi Arthur made two types of napkin holders using old buttons and blue and white fabric to match the crockery. Jodi also made a beautiful table plan using old lace, doilies, art deco buttons and typewritten names…."
"Using our vintage props, glassware and linens, I designed a vintage dessert bar and candy buffet inspired by the art deco theme. After sourcing the right selection of sweets I asked local companies Coco Catering and Victoria Made to make us some delicious desserts. Coco Catering provided blueberry mousses and jellies and Victoria Made provided white chocolate and vanilla cupcakes, lavender macarons and biscuits, meringue hearts, blueberry tartlets and a cute little wedding cake which we used as the centrepiece of the dessert bar, placing it on a 1930s rugged suitcase. Bloom Textiles made us some bespoke bunting from more chair back covers and blue and white fabric, which we used around the Dessert Bar table…."
"As a keen collector of old wedding memorabilia, I included some of my items about historical royal weddings from the 30s and 60s. The 1940s Union Jack flag added a final patriotic twist to what had been a wonderful day!"
"Sheffield is brilliant for Vintage wedding suppliers and it was a great opportunity to highlight what beautiful yet simple things can be done to dress a room with the right combination of vintage props and finishing touches.
A Big thank you to Sheffield Town Hall, one of the most helpful venues I have ever worked with."
