The moment my new husband and I walked through the huge double doors of our wedding venue and headed towards the car that would return us to our hotel stands as one of my favourite memories from the whole day. As sad as I was that it was all over, being greeted by the smiling faces of friends and family as confetti showered over us was an incredible moment.

My step-father, a keen gardener, grew, picked and pressed the petals that rained over us, settling in our hair and on our cheeks and lips. When I finally undressed at the end of the night, another burst of confetti cascaded over the floor of the hotel bathroom.

It's hard to beat the look and feel of natural petal confetti. The colour and texture simply cannot be replicated by snippets of flimsy tissue paper. Of course, it's a much more ecologically sound option too.

Love My Dress sponsor Shropshire Petals produce natural petal confetti on their farm set amidst the scenic rolling hills of Shropshire. Their flowers are grown and handpicked with careful love and attention. You might even catch a glimpse of
their colourful fields whilst
driving through the Shropshire countryside.

Read on to find out more about this unique supplier, as well as gain some great advice for how to use their beautiful confetti on your wedding day…

How did Shropshire Petals come about?

'We are a family business originally set up by Michael and
Rosemary Bubb. Michael’s mother Daisy
used to dry flowers and sell them at WI markets. A customer asked if they could dye some
petals to be used as confetti. Rosemary suggested
the customer use some of our delphinium petals which are not dyed or coloured
to try this as confetti…and
Shropshire Petals was born!'

'The call for natural petal confetti began as churches
and venues preferred it to the paper or synthetic confetti. As people became
more environmentally conscious, the demand for bio-degradable natural petals
increased.'

What do you
love about your work?

'We love seeing a completely empty field
bloom into flower, then watch the delicate delphiniums being handpicked,
de-petalled, dried and sieved to select only the best petals to then be stored
ready for our customer orders to be filled. Everyone here at Shropshire Petals loves to receive customer photos
which many of our brides and grooms send in to us, we know that the confetti
thrown during the wedding confetti shot, inspiring all those natural smiles,
was grown right here on our little farm in Shropshire.  From field to photo, we get to see the whole
process and then it starts all over again!'

What’s special about your confetti?

'Our confetti is 100% natural, no dyes
or colours are added to any of our petals and they will biodegrade in just a
couple of days, going back to nature where they came from, super eco-friendly!  Every petal is delicately handpicked on the
farm, adding an extra special touch to every order.'

'Throwing confetti over a newly married
couple has been a tradition for centuries.
Natural petals are the perfect choice for your wedding.'

Here
are some top tips for using confetti:

Heart  The best and most natural wedding photo your
photographer will take will be the confetti shot.  Supplying natural confetti to match or
contrast your wedding theme, for your guests to shower you with will ensure you
get the most magical photos.

Heart  Use natural petals to create your own unique table
centrepieces; surround a large candle with rose petals in your wedding theme
colours.

Heart  Add a few rose petals to your champagne glasses for an
extra special touch when toasting your marriage.

Heart  Add a bit of colour to your buffet tables by scattering
delphinium petals on white table clothes.

For a country wedding attach small lavender and wheat
bundles to the back of chairs for a truly natural touch.

Heart  Try adding rose petals
to cupcakes before giving them to your guests as favours.

Heart  Create a heart from raspberry delphinium petals to place
around your wedding cake.

Heart  Confetti is not just for your wedding day, place
romantic petals in a hot bath to share with your loved one on your anniversary
or Valentine's Day.
