In our second and final wedding feature today, we're back in good old Blighty to enjoy these bright and beautiful photographs that were sent in by fine art wedding photographer, Katie Julia. Beth, a life coach and founder of TheCareerStylist.com married her beau Darragh on 11 August last year at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond. This isn't a wedding I chose to share because it's full of detail – I chose to share it simply because of the beautiful portrait shots of a couple very much in love on their wedding day. And, it has to be said, because I LOVE the hair 😉
“Darragh and I met back in 2007, at the house party of a mutual friends. We got engaged in August 2012 after five years of being together. Darragh proposed on a remote beach in the west of Ireland and wrote the words 'Beth Will You Marry Me?' in the sand!
We wanted an understated and elegant, vintage inspired wedding, and we took the less is more' approach. Simplicity is after all the ultimate sophistication!”

“Some of our favourite moments of the day included bubbles after the service, being out in the gorgeous sun with the stunning Richmond views and all our family and friends around us. It was like a dream and we’re so thankful for the way the weather turned out!”
“My dress was by designer Lusan Mandongus and I purchased it from The Wedding Wardrobe in Waterloo. I loved the simple yet elegant style and adored the stunning feature of the back.”
“We hired The Real Flower Company – I love that they use fresh herbs and beautiful scented flowers. For me flowers really are about the sensual experience! I chose a mix of pale pink roses (that looked like peonies!) and cream roses because they are my favourite flowers and worked with the simple, light, understated feel. They also looked beautiful against the bright white of the ceremony/reception room."
Ladies, if floral scent is an important aspect of our wedding planning too, please be sure to read this feature on the exploration of wedding flowers scent, by professional florist by Clair May Sankey of Lily & May.
“Our photographer was Katie Julia. I already had paid a deposit for a more 'traditional' photographer, but as soon as I saw Katie's work I fell in love with her artistic approach to wedding photography. I could see from her previous work that she captures so much more than a simple photograph- she really conjures the essence of your love as a couple and the unique beauty of your day. I also loved how passionate katie was about ensuring we caught the best shots and that the photographs would fit seamlessly around our day- and that we would have some real fun with them too!
Katie is so easy to work with and we both felt so relaxed working with her.. I really couldn't recommend Katie highly enough, she is a total gem and I believe one of the most inspiring wedding photographers out there today. I feel so fortunate to have secured her for our big day Thanks Katie!”
“My great Auntie made our wedding cake for us, and then The Real Flower Company topped it with the same flowers used in my bouquet.”
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
“Remember to enjoy it and have fun! Don’t overcomplicate it and pile on the stress – it’s just not worth it, or what getting married is supposed to be about. Prioritise choosing a wedding venue you love and means something to you – we invested in getting married somewhere beautiful that inspired us. Because the venue was so stunning, we didn’t go overboard with décor and other extras. Less is so more, and much better for the bank balance too!”
The simple elegance of these images stole my heart from the first moment I saw them. And Beth looks just so beautiful in her Lusan Mandongus gown. If you are looking to see more brides wearing Lusan Mandongus, you may wish to visit these pages.
Congratulations Beth and Darragh – we hope your first year of married life is bringing much joy and happiness and we would to thank you and your photographer Katie Julia for sharing these photographs.

Lovely charming wedding – she looks a little like Emma Watson I thought!
Great styling. Just superb. The decor is outstanding. Simple elegance at its best. Modern bride needs to see more events like this. The modest charm of professionalism in every detail. Nicely done
