Joanna Hehir 2014 Wedding Dress Collection: A Touch of 1930s Bridal Glamour

It's one of the most exciting times in the bridal industry right now – many new designers are launching their new collections this weekend at The White Gallery. Those who work in bridal fashion will be very familiar with this annual event, but essentially this is one of the main trade events in the UK providing an opportunity for designers to showcase their new collections to buyers.

I attend The White Gallery every year, it's always fun to catch up with industry friends but also see all those beautiful new dresses and gowns and pick out the elements that will be emerging as trends over the coming season.  You can see the beautiful designs I was witness to at last year's White Gallery here.

One of those designers I'm looking forward to catching up with during the event is Joanna Hehir

Joanna is of those really personable, approachable designers, the kind that always welcomes you with a style and is keen to show you through her really beautiful collection of gowns. I fell a little bit in love with the one she named Annabel in a previous collection!

It's always a good sign when a designer behaves this way – it reflects not just their passion for what they do but their commitment to customer service which, let's face it, is pretty important when it's involving the purchase of a wedding dress.

I genuinely really love the Joanna Hehir collection for 2014.  It is  timeless ,elegant and full of vintage references, predominantly with a flavour of full-on 30s style glamour and sophistication.

The images you see here today were photographed by Kate Hopewell-Smith and styled by Johanna herself along with her daughter Fianna, who works for the Joanna Hehir brand as Creative Assistant.  I think they perfectly capture the timeless glamour of these beautiful new wedding dress designs. Joanna told me a little about these inspirational images that she hopes very much will appeal to Love My Dress readers;

'The 1920s and 1930s are my favourite fashion eras, so I jumped at the chance to design some dresses for a styled photo shoot.  Once the theme was decided, Fianna (my daughter and Creative Assistant) found a hidden gem of a bar called Purl which is in Blandford St in Marylebone, London. Purl proved to be the perfect backdrop and environment to shoot my glamorous and vintage inspired gowns.'

Some of the dresses pictured are brand new and not yet available, but the Bridgette, Meredith, Catherine and Helena dresses from the Johanna Hehir collection are available at selected stockists.  Designs range from between £1800 – £3300.

Brides-to-be should also be advised that Johanna Hehir closed her London boutique last year to focus purely on designing for her three labels - Johanna HehirMae by Johanna Hehir and new online bridal boutique Wednesday Roses. Her dresses are now available exclusively at selected bridal boutiques across the UK and internationally.
