Good afternoon lovely ones, here’s hoping that Tuesday already has you on your way to a positive, upbeat kind of week. I’m really pleased to be sharing this wedding today – Pamala and Mike tied the knot on 22nd June last year at Mike’s sister’s family home in Bath.  I love that this wedding blends vintage, rustic, country style with a modern day Asian aesthetic, and how it has all been so beautifully documented on camera by photographer James Green.  Pamala tells us more…

“I was influenced by the reception venue, my sister in law’s home, and how it is located in such beautiful surroundings.  Because of this we set out to create an earthy natural style which complemented the outdoors, whilst including Asian elements by introducing Asian outfits. The lanterns in the marquee gave an Asian influence and added that punch of colour I wanted. Having the flower girls in purple and bridesmaids in green was also a way to bring in the Asian influence.

“Mike and I met online after I moved to Bath to work. Mike was based in Bristol so was pretty nearby. Mike proposed to me on a ferry between Capri and Positano in Italy whilst we were on holiday.

We chose Mike’s sister’s house to get married at because it is beautiful.  All of Mike’s family are from farming communities and have always had marquee weddings, and so we were keen to do the same. Mike’s sister has lived there for many years so Mike would visit her at Christmas and throughout the year and felt very much like this was the family home.

“I bought my dress at a shop called Rangoli – an Indian sari shop in Wembley. I wanted something that would blend with a church wedding but still be Indian.

“My jewellery was borrowed from my mother – the necklace was a present from my parents and the bangles were from various Indian shops in Wembley.

“My hair and make-up artist was our photographers wife, Rebecca Green.  She was amazing. I don’t wear much makeup usually and was conscious I wanted to still feel and look like me. Rebecca did such a great job and both Mike and I were delighted.”

I adore the blue and gold colours Pamala chose to wear on her wedding day.  The shoes are by Sergio Rossi by the way.

The couple’s wedding car was Mike’s own Mercedes SL280. Super cool.

Flowers By Passion made the bouquet. My remit was something very natural with lots of succulence and structure. I wanted natural colours so opted for the Quicksand Rose, I also chose Thistle because we live in Edinburgh.

Unbelievably cute little flower girls – their outfits were purchased in Dubai.

“Our photographer James Green is amazing! We really love our photos! We wanted lots of natural shots with guests, plus a few group shots as well as his trademark personal shots with just the two of us.  We choose James because we loved the light in his photographs and the way he captures the day.”

“My Father walked me down the aisle and during the ceremony we exchanged traditional Church of England wedding vows.

Our two ceremony readings included a Sanskrit Poem read by my sister and a passage from Song of Solomon.”

“Our caterers were Fosters Events from Bristol. They did a fabulous job with stunning food and superb hospitality.

We wanted to have a selection of cakes for our guests – our main cake was tiered cheese from The Fine Cheese Company in Bath. We order several other cakes from Patisserie Valerie in Bath as well as some homemade Indian sweets and a rather large bowl of strawberries.”

“The inside of the marquee was covered with lanterns. This gave the Asian feel I wanted with the punch of colour.”

“When I think of our favourite moments from the day, there are two that particularly spring to mind.  Firstly, there was a point in one of the hymns when we needed to stop and restart as I had accidently put the verses in the wrong place in the order of service, which confused everyone. We all had a giggle!

Secondly, coming out of the wedding leaving the church with Mike and seeing all of our friends. I hadn’t really taken them all in before that. That was precious as so many dear friends and family travelled from far and wide.”

Words of Wedded Wisdom

“Just enjoy the day! It’s so easy to be stressed because of the amount of work that has gone into preparing everything, but just forget the details on the day – relax and enjoy it!”
