Hello and it’s lovely to be back with you again this week. Today, I have the huge pleasure of sharing a brand new collection of truly beautiful bridal accessories with you and, I have to say that as a mid-week treat, it absolutely doesn’t get better than this. So, without further ado, let’s say hello to Meadowsweet, the 2016 bridal accessories collection from Blackbird’s Pearl.
Deliciously fresh and free from all fuss, bridal accessories from Blackbird’s Pearl are the perfect combination of intricacy and simplicity. I love the natural, organic feel of all the designs and a signature style of understated elegance runs right through the Meadowsweet collection. This delicate aesthetic is incredibly important to designer Johanna Talleraas:

Johanna trained as a costume designer and dressmaker and made her own headpiece for her wedding, just three days before she took her vows! From this start, Blackbird’s Pearl has grown into a super successful label and, after a recent move from London to Hamburg, Johanna is now spending her days individually colouring silk petals and sewing the smallest satin leaves for her designs. It’s this artisan approach that makes her designs special.
“All of the silk flowers I use are handmade,” says Johanna. “From cutting the petals to dying or painting them, shaping them and then assembling the flower, each one is unique. This process gives a wonderfully delicate and natural flower and every piece is a true luxury keepsake that won’t wilt.”
The new Meadowsweet collection is, as you would expect, full of delightful flourishes that combine attention to detail and superb craftsmanship. The white silk with little gold accents are the most unassuming yet attention grabbing combination I’ve seen and those gorgeous flowers and superbly beaded designs give this collection a naturally graceful vibe that I just adore.
“Meadowsweet is inspired by seas of scented white flowers and the simple joys of early summer,” explains Johanna. “The collection focuses on a pure, fresh and delicate aesthetic with a fashion forward edge. I love studying portraits of ladies in headdresses and photographs of vintage brides and I also love the challenge of designing for a very contemporary woman while keeping the age-old romance of a bride on her wedding day.”
“The pieces are easy to wear and style in a number of ways. A lot of the designs can be worn at the back of the head like a headband or on the side. The versatile combs and comb sets will work perfectly with a variety of hairstyles and many pieces can be combined with a veil – and, if you prefer, this can be detachable as well.”
Meadowsweet, the latest collection from Blackbird’s Pearl, is that rare thing – charming beauty, meticulous craftsmanship and refined splendour. It’s magnificent in so many ways and I love it.
A simple hydrangea halo from Blackbird’s Pearl starts at £100 while the elaborate Margerite beaded leaf hair vine is £340 and an individual silk flower is around £25.
