Opulent Bridal Glamour

Good evening lovely ones – have you had a chance to enjoy our wedding of this morning? A beautiful destination affair, you have to see the back detail of lovely bride Leanne’s gown, total wow fact. Also, have you bookmarked our Little Book For Brides wedding directory as well as our new ‘Style Files’ pages – both of which we hope will be especially helpful to those of you looking for suppliers for your own wedding.

So on to our second feature for today and it gives me such pleasure to be able to share these images sent in by photographer Kerry Bartlett. They feature the work of a number of artisan designers I absolutely love and admire, including dress designer Vicky Rowe and headpiece designer Abby Gadd of Cherished Vintage and shoe designer Ruth of Harriet Wilde – these are the type of wonderful, hard working, talented suppliers, designers and makers whose work I feel very proud to showcase and recommend through our wedding blog pages. Kerry worked with a number of suppliers to bring together an Opulent glamour’ inspired shoot, with a nod to traditional British style.

“No matter how contemporary, unusual and unique weddings have become, essentially, traditions remain and this is what current trends are returning to; a classical look. Very soft, pretty tones. Fine workmanship, be it in the creation of the rings, the dress or any number of other items.”

“Bridal gown designer Vicky Rowe provided the dresses from which much of the inspiration for the shoot was taken. Vicky’s designs are of the kind of achingly opulent style that every woman secretly dreams of wearing (preferably to a Cinderella-style ball!).”

“Vicky also supplied beautiful beaded bridesmaids dresses for the shoot. All our hair and jewellery accessories are courtesy of Cherished Vintage and What Katy Did Next.”

“Gathering her inspiration from all things romantic, vintage and whimsical, Katy – owner and designer of What Katy Did Next – creates a range of stunning and unique designs in her studio in County Durham.”

“Abby Gadd, who is owner of Cherished Vintagedesigns, wires and ribbons each piece in her West Sussex studio.”

The team used shoes from Little Book For Brides member, Harriet Wilde, whose heels I absolutely adore. If you’re seeking a really individual, modern glamorous kind of shoe for your wedding, I highly encourage you to explore the Harriet Wilde website.

“Wedding make-up artist Becky Flynn chose a slightly smoky-classic look for the girls; again, something which is really very pretty yet a little wild. Becky is a highly skilled MUA with a big following and having worked with her last year, I was so pleased that she joined us again.”

“Hair stylist Lauren Hughes has a very special way of creating hair styles that are so naturally suited to the individual. There are no tight chignon styles or scraped and sprayed up-do’s here. I approached Lauren because I specifically wanted voluminous, wild styles, tamed to sit with – and not overpower – the other elements of the shoot.”

“This she did, with bells on! Each style suited it’s owner, the accessories chosen and the dress. Her creativity is so perfectly suited to brides seeking super-pretty, natural hair styles, especially when teamed with a floral crown or statement hair piece.”

I really hope you find something that you might love (or want to add to your secret wedding Pinterest board!). My favourite image is the one at the very top, I adore the natural light and how it filters through that beautiful gold leaf veil by What Katy Did Next.

My love and thanks to photographer Kerry Bartlett for sharing her beautiful work today.
