This was the most spectacular bridal fashion catwalk show we have ever seen, bar non, courtesy of Spanish designers, YOLANCRIS. This show at Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week truly left us both speechless.
Hubby Philip (also your Love M Dress Creative Director!) were guests at this show courtesy of the designers and it was an absolute treat to be there. I left with my hairs stand on end and surge of creative inspiration like I haven’t in a long, long time.
Founded by sisters Yolanda and Cristina, YOLANCRIS is one of the most exciting, cool, innovative brands in bridal fashion. Based in Barcelona but with stockists all over the world, this Spanish label has a signature look all of it’s own that embraces free spirited modernity and avant garde design with timeless haute couture.
The show was like nothing else I’ve ever seen – the organisers of this show were genius. No one knew what to expect so there was no case of over-hype – what delivered was the most unexpected, exceptional mix of creativity and set design, involving flying dancers that arrived onto the catwalk via giant thimbles, needles and scissors that were suspended in the air – an extraordinary, fantastical take on the tools of the trade.
And then there were the designs themselves – they were extraordinary. What we were treated to mostly wasn’t your typical wedding dress, though, don’t get me wrong, there were some utter beauties in there that I truly hope the more fashion conscious British brides will be brave enough to wear for their 2019/20 weddings.
There were number of head turning and striking wedding dresses in this collection, but this show was all about the fashion and flare. This is modern, bridal couture as its absolute most dramatically fabulous.
After dancers wowed us, the models began to appear and I can honestly say I have never worked my camera so hard. I took almost 1000 images that night on my trustee Olympus Pen camera.
These, to me, truly represent the wild and free essence of YolanCris, a modern love story with bridal fashion. I just utterly love them!
