The Juliet Collection, by Rolling In Roses

Featuring the following Love My Dress Directory members…

What an absolute pleasure it is today to be launching the brand new Juliet collection by British sustainable bridal fashion brand, Rolling In Roses.

Rolling In Roses, based in the historic city of York, was founded by the talented Hayley Neil, who I had the absolute pleasure of catching up with shortly before Christmas. Hayley is driven by a passion for sustainability and creating wedding dresses that blend eco-friendly values with gorgeous, modern bridal design.

Today, Hayley is launching her gorgeous new Juliet Collection for 2025 on Love My Dress and I’m incredibly humbled and excited that she has chosen to do so. This collection is available via Rolling In Roses both online and their York based studio immediately, and will be available across Rolling In Roses stockists in the coming weeks.

Let’s find out more!

The Juliet Collection is borne of my love of Shakespeare and passion for historical fashion, brought bang up to date with modern cuts and styling. Our exquisite selection of fabric is, as always, the utmost in ethical sustainable luxury. Traditional couture techniques, chic silhouettes, and innovative materials all coalesce in this stunning line-up of versatile pieces for the avant-garde bride.

A breathtaking contemporary take on the historical fashions of Shakespeare’s era, the Titania Dress is cut from a stunning Italian silk-blend brocade. This beauty features a slightly dropped waistline which comes to a flattering point at the centre-front and centre-back, and a sculptural tulip shaped skirt with hidden pockets. Constructed with traditional corsetry techniques utilising the highest quality sprung boning, which ensures a wonderful fit and complete comfort for the wearer.

Tell us all about your new collection and what do you hope brides feel when they encounter your beautiful designs?

See inspiration blurb on website! Most excited about new silhouettes and new fabrics.

But what’s lovely is that you said exactly the same as what my sister said when she saw the new designs: you both immediately said how they were so ‘me,’ with my signature style, but also that they looked so fresh and new, which made me very happy indeed!

Are there any pieces in this collection that hold a particularly special place in your heart?

It’s always too hard to choose a favourite! But I have loved the dropped waist styles as they’re not something I’ve done before, and I love the new fabrics we’ve used for the Juliet Dress and Titania Dress (a beautiful organic hemp/silk blend and an amazing sustainable brocade).

But as always, I’m a sucker for bias-cut dresses and all the backless ones. The pattern drafting for the Beatrice Dress was definitely the most complicated, with all its intricate intersecting seams, but also the most satisfying!

When a bride wears one of your dresses, what emotion or experience do you hope stays with her long after the wedding day?

I just want them to have that excitement and pride about having an exquisitely made piece to really appreciate and cherish, which is absolutely worth every penny.

I love that our brides have the peace of mind of knowing exactly where their dress is made, what it’s made from, and the knowledge that love, care, and attention has been poured into it at every stage of the process. It sort of forges a deep connection with their dress that is missing with mass-produced purchases.

Were there moments of unexpected inspiration or challenges during the creation of this one that shaped its direction?

Absolutely, there always is! Sometimes it can be hard to predict which designs will come to fruition in the most successful way, and things always surprise you throughout the making process when I’m discovering how to manipulate a fabric to do what I want it to do.

Usually, it’s the simplest dresses that prove to be the most challenging, and this collection was no exception. The Viola Dress and Juno Dress look like deceptively simple pieces, but we made more prototypes of them than any other design before we got them right!

Sustainability is woven into everything you do. How have you deepened that commitment in this collection, and what discoveries or innovations are you especially proud of?

I’m so unbelievably proud of our sustainable fabrics, and I’m so pleased to say that 94.6% of the fabric used in our last two collections has sustainable certification, whether that’s organic, recycled, vegan, biodegradable, or closed-loop production.

This means our materials are produced in ways that protect the environment, are low-carbon, conserve natural resources like forests and water, and are cruelty-free and ethically made.

We try to consider every detail: our zips are recycled post-consumer rPET, the ribbon is recycled, the elastic is natural biodegradable rubber instead of synthetic, and even the thread we used to stitch everything together is a super-sustainable Tencel fibre. We were awarded the Sustainability Award at this year’s Bridal Buyer Awards, which we were absolutely thrilled about!

What do you think is the most powerful question a bride can ask when searching for an ethical, sustainable wedding dress?

Two things: who made it, and where, and what fabric it’s made from. There’s a lot of fashion out there claiming to be ‘sustainably made’ as it’s small batch or made to order, which is great as it means there’s no overproduction and waste.

But if that dress is made from virgin polyester, I don’t think it can be called a sustainable dress! There is so much greenwashing out there; it really can be a minefield, but we’re always happy to advise anyone about this information, even if they’re not buying from us!

Looking back on your journey with Rolling In Roses, what has this past year taught you as a designer and as a creative soul?

After years of designing, what still sparks your imagination and keeps you feeling connected to this work you love so deeply?
Everything!

I love it so much and feel so lucky to be doing it. It’s so tough running a business these days, and the stress can sometimes feel overwhelming, but when I’m designing and making, all that falls away, and I just love coming to work to create new beautiful things. I honestly pour my heart and soul into each new collection; I always cry after we finish a new collection photoshoot from the sheer emotional weight of it all!

And I usually shed a tear when all the finished imagery comes through too. Creating a new collection is a huge undertaking and such a labour of love, but how incredibly lucky am I to get to do this as a job?!

I never get tired of the joy of designing, which I love every part of, from the research, to the cutting, to the hand-sewing of the finishing touches.

The deeper level of connection also comes from the absolute love of making women feel amazing on their wedding day and knowing that we’re doing it without any detriment to the environment. Pure joy!

The joy of knowing where your dress was made and the fabric it’s made from – and the connection that this forges with your dress – it’s a lovely feeling that you just don’t get with a mass produced dress.
