If you think along the lines of dreamy and romantic then you’ve got today’s wedding sussed. Held in Slovenia after spotting and falling in love with the work of a couple of Slovenia-based wedding planners, today’s couple planned the day of their dreams which I feel lucky to be able to share with you. So, enough of the waffling – let’s introduce you shall we?
Maria and Primoz chose 5th August as their wedding date and chose Zicka Kartuzija as their venue. As an old monastery situated in a Slovenian town, it provided the perfect balance between romance and rustic.
“Primoz’s sister-in-law recommended the wedding planners Luka and Ben after seeing photographs of a wedding they had previously organised at the venue. We got in touch with them and as this was their main wedding venue client, we decided to go with it. When we visited in April we loved the venue and decided we had to be married there! With Luka and Ben’s help, they saw what we liked in terms of style and decor and took their advice. The only requirement Primoz had was that there be no pink flowers.”

The bride chose her stunningly beautiful Pronovias Atelier fishtail tulle and lace gown due to its unique style and absolutely sensational shoulder streamers.
She let the dress do most of the talking, using simple accessories such as a pair of drop earrings and a delicate hair piece to compliment her look. Her groom looked dashing in a 2-piece black suit from Garcia Madrid with matching black and white tie and crisp white shirt.
“Primoz and I first met in Stuttgart, Germany in 2011. We were both doing an internship there, which was organised by the IAESTE student organisation. We got engaged on 3rd January 2017 in Ljubljana. I arrived in Slovenia on 2nd January and as a surprise, Primoz took me on a two-day trip to Ljubljana.”
“The only thing he said to me was to bring a nice dress as he had planned for us to go somewhere nice for dinner one evening. We ended up going to Restravraciia Strelec, within the Ljubljana Castle. Originally Primoz had wanted to propose there, but the waiter took his coat with the ring inside it so he had to change his plan a little.”

“A little bit before we left the restaurant, he asked the staff at the hotel we were staying at to prepare a cake and bottle of champagne for when we got back to the room. He proposed on our return to the hotel and I said yes, of course! We were engaged for 7 months before the wedding day.”
Wedding planners Luka and Ben also provided all of the florals, including the brides small yet perfectly formed wedding bouquet of pastel coloured cream and peach flowers and the decadent table centerpieces on the tables where guests sat for the wedding breakfast.
The wedding ceremony was held in an impressive outdoor location at the venue, surrounded by the old monastery wall ruins. Maria’s friend Alex accompanied her down the aisle to the sounds of Solamente Tu from Pablo Alboran, performed live by singer Issac Palma.
The couple opted for an official civil ceremony, using an officiant from the municipality.
The couple went off a recommendation from Luka and Ben when it came to their wedding photographers and in the end, decided to go with Urska & Domen Photography.
“Luka and Ben work a lot with Urska & Domen so recommended them to us. We wanted photographers with a little bit of a softer approach and more romantic style of photography as we imagined that it would work best with the overall theme of the wedding.”
“We met Urska & Domen when we visited Slovenia (we live in Madrid, Spain) and after a short meeting, we came away with some pre-wedding photos at our venue for our save the date stationery.”
“We absolutely loved Urska & Domen as our photographers. The colours of the photos and everything else matched the wedding perfectly. Additionally, they are a very friendly and professional pair.”
Following the ceremony, the newlyweds went with Urska & Domen to capture the beautiful sunlight in the wedding portraits in the grounds of the venue, before joining the wedding breakfast banquet with their guests, provided by Luka and Ben.
Proving men of many talents, Luka and Ben also created the impressive 4 tier white butter cream wedding cake, decorated with flowers and sparklers.
“We hired Top Band Casino to play the night away and chose Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran as our first dance song. We chose it because it has a dance already integrated in the video which we thought we could copy. However, we didn’t practice enough and the final dance wasn’t as glamorous as we had envisioned, though we still had lots of fun trying! I even wrote down the steps in a last-minute attempt to avoid a debacle. I gave it to a friend to show to us during the dance but even that didn’t provide much help!”
After a sparkler send off to end the night on a high, the couple were left with the memories and pure joys of the day.
“We really enjoyed the whole day. Primoz’s favourite moment was seeing me walk down the aisle in my dress, which he hadn’t seen before the day, with the song Solamente Tu playing in the background. At this point, he tells me, he was thinking it is really only you! Everything on the day was perfect. Even the small things that went wrong!”
Words Of Wedded Wisdom
“Enjoy your day and don’t stress too much! Especially over the small things that might not go to plan.”
“You’ll be surprised by how fast the day goes by and you wouldn’t want to waste a minute of it stressing over things that don’t matter, or things that no one will notice have gone wrong.”
Congratulations to the gorgeous newlyweds! And a big thank you to photographers Urska & Domen Photography for capturing the magic of the day so perfectly, the light in the photos is just magical!
Until next time…
Much love,
Holly x
