Hello lovely readers and brides to be – and are you ready for something special? This is one for all of you looking for or even remotely considering a modern wedding veil or cool, statement headpiece.

I’m overjoyed to be joined by the insanely talented and utterly lovely Ann-Marie Faulkner in sharing with you ‘Bleach’, her stunning new collection of veils and bridal headpieces.

These pieces are just about as contemporary cool and beautifully handmade as they come, so press pause on your day for a moment and join me for an indulgent look at this extraordinarily exquisite collection.

Ann-Marie Faulkner is an altogether brilliant designee. She set-up her mainline millinery label in 2012, followed by her specialist bridal brand at the end of 2014 and it’s absolutely crystal clear that Ann-Marie loves the wedding world and producing veils and accessories for her clients makes her truly happy.

Following the success of her previous collections, particularly last year’s Night Blooms range, we’ve been impatiently waiting for 2019’s offering and oh my goodness, the wait has been worth it.

“My new collection, Bleach, was inspired by a recent trip to Mexico and Oaxaca in particular,” says Ann-Marie. “This collection draws inspiration from the warm, sun-bleached colours that were everywhere and the textiles, patterns and cultures that I absorbed whilst there were a huge source of inspiration.”

Ann-Marie began this collection with lots of research and then the ideas began to flow so that Ann-Marie can begin to create samples of her designs.

“Sampling is my favourite part of the process but it’s also the longest part as things don’t always work so you have to start again! The sampling for this collection included lots of intricate beading patterns, dye experiments, new wiring techniques and painting experiments on lace.”

All of the exceptional embellishments that you see in the new collection are all done by hand, in-house. There’s lots of gorgeous embroidery in the collection along with hand-beaded and sequinned silk veils. I also love the hand-wired and heavily embellished headpieces that are designed to sparkle and catch the light like a sunset. The hand-cut laces have been dyed or painted in glorious washed-out colours that just make you think of summer days.

“If I had to choose a favourite piece, I’d go for the Verano headpiece. I love the laser-cut velvet and also the dried grasses, called Bunny Tails, in the design. I bought the Bunny Tails from a dried flower market in Porto back in 2016 and have been saving them for something special, so I was really happy when I finally got to use them.”

Ann-Marie admits that she doesn’t design with a specific bride in mind, rather she designs pieces that she would love to wear. And, when you look at the collection, you’ll definitely find lots of designs that you’ll love to wear too.

I have to say that I love the Winged crescent – this crystal crescent is just beautiful and gives you so many options when you come to choose how to wear it. The Perla headpiece is another stunner with metallic lace flowers, pearls and iridescent peach sequins atop of powder blue silk Alice band. For a simple adornment, take a look at the Daisy scatter pins. This cotton pins are decorated with glass bugle beads and you can add them to your bridal hairstyle wherever and however you like.

There are also gorgeous veils in the new collection that have caught my eye including the embroidered tulle delights of Fiesta with hand-painted flowers and the super elegant Flores veil, a two-tier silk veil with floral sequin appliques that catch the light and almost glow when they do.
