It’s been what feels like a crazy few weeks of travel, shows and bridal fashion collection launches – designers all vying to get as many eyes on their new collection (in this case, 2020) gowns as possible.

I’m excited to be sharing some of my favourite collections with you over the next couple of weeks. It had to start with this, ‘The Painter’, the latest most sumptuously beautiful collection of gowns by our friend and designer Kate Halfpenny of Halfpenny London.

We visited Kate’s bloomsbury boutique (brides – it’s but a mere hop and skip away from Kings Cross train station) to view this collection up close and personal and as usual, left feeling like we were floating on a bridal fashion loving little cloud.

When it comes to Kate, there’s just something about the girl; she not only knows how to create a beautiful gown, but somehow energise each and every one of her designs with a real sense of magic and awe. Stepping into her boutique is quite an experience you won’t forget.

The Painter collection by Halfpenny London celebrates the intrigue of the subject, the passion of the artist and the beauty of the finished masterpiece in equal measure. Inspired by the art of La Belle Époque, the painter collection is overflowing with sumptuous fabrics and exquisite detailing.

“From the moment I laid eyes on Vittorio Matteo Corcos’s work, I was completely drawn into his sumptuous world. I love everything about it, from the combination of colours and textures to the sense of pride and grandeur exuding from the frame.”

“As a constant collector of portraits old and new, I’m fascinated by their romance and intimacy.”

“The ability of a truly wonderful artist to allow the viewer to glimpse the character and spirit of the subject, as seen through the artist’s eyes, is incredibly inspiring to me.”

In The Painter collection, I offer brides a window into my world and I’m very excited to present this collection of contemporary, yet timeless designs.”

Using fabrics as her muse, designer Kate Halfpenny has approached this season with the playfulness, freedom and expert skill of an artisan, indulging her passion for textiles by designing and creating unique embroideries in house.

Mum has always inspired me to be resourceful and use scraps and offcuts to create something new and wonderful, and find the magic in the tiniest piece of cloth. Working with my mum is so wonderful – Halfpenny London really wouldn’t exist without her. Kate Halfpenny

Talking of working in-house, it truly is an in-house family affair at Halfpenny London; one of the most touching things I’ve viewed in a long time is this incredibly intimate video which captures Kate and her mum (and also her lifelong inspiration), in conversation whilst actually creating together. I dare you to watch this and not reach for the tissues…

Kate has named each of these designs after one of her her favourite artists; you’ll find names like Kaws, Klimnt, Monet, Orka and Warhol, amongst others.

I adore this collection wholeheartedly – it is a beautiful and considered representation of modern bridal femininity that will suit any bride looking to stand out in a stylish, sophisticated design that makes her feel like a goddess.  If you are yet to set out on your journey to find your own wedding dress, I encourage you to pay a visit to Kate’s London boutique or locate your nearest Halfpenny London stockist and in the very least, gift yourself the treat of trying on some of these gowns.
