If you love designer luxury and couture bridal then oh my goodness, have I got a treat for you today. Feathers, Birmingham’s most stylish bridal boutique, has recently opened its doors.
And I just had to tell you about the gorgeous store, all the designers they stock and to let you know that if you’ve not yet booked your appointment for the exclusive Hermione de Paula trunk show that’s running next weekend (13th – 16th July), you’ve still got time to do so if you’re quick. Anyway, let’s step into Feathers…
“We exist to celebrate a woman’s individuality and fabulous personality, whatever shape that takes!” explains owner Holly. “I want to stock a collection where each piece offers brides something different from the next and where each style has a sprinkling of personality, whether that be leather flowers or dramatic trains, sheer panels, feathers or statement bows.”

“When I was shopping for my own wedding dress, I found myself flicking through the rails and feeling rather uninspired because the gowns all became very samey. I didn’t want anything too off-the-wall but I did want something that showed my personality. I wanted feathers on my dress, hence the name of my boutique now!”
There’s no doubt about it – Holly has curated an absolutely exceptional collection, the like of which you simply won’t find anywhere else. For example, Feathers is the first UK stockist of Dana Harel gowns and the collection features the incredible Jessa and Jade gowns, which are embellished with the most amazing leather flowers.

Holly is also determined to make brilliant bridal fashion accessible to brides outside of London and the south:
“Elihav Sasson gowns are just dreamy. I was struck initially by the long diaphanous trains and the sassy, sheer illusion panels that make up many of the dresses that I stock. The Elihav Sasson bride is looking for a show-stopper gown to really turn heads and I’m only their second UK stockist.”
“I’m also thrilled to bring Viktor&Rolf Mariage out of London. This is such a modern and avant-garde collection and again, each piece has its own distinct style and personality. In fact, the gowns seem more like bad-ass women in themselves to me, rather than just dresses. There’s a real confidence and style about each piece.”
And flying the flag for British luxury is Kate Halfpenny and Halfpenny London. Holly met Kate at New York Fashion Week earlier this year and fell in love with the collection that’s made up predominantly of separates so that brides can mix and match pieces to create their perfect look.
The flexibility of the Halfpenny London collection is just fab. Skirts with tassels, ruffles, hammered silk and feathers with so many different corsets and tops to suit all personalities, shapes and styles. And those capes! They’re amazing!
Feathers sits in a beautiful, listed Victorian shopping arcade right in the middle of Birmingham city centre and it’s absolutely perfect for a day out. If you’re travelling into Birmingham, you’ll find Feathers right by New Street station so let the train take the strain and enjoy your day. You’re also sure to enjoy the boutique experience and Holly and her team have created a welcoming and relaxing space for everyone.

For just a few days, Hermione’s incredible botanical-inspired, hand embroidered gowns will be available outside of her London boutique. Known for her art-couture bridal creations, customisations and signature personalisation, the trunk show will also exclusively feature Hermione’s new limited edition collection of gowns that are designed to be more accessible to UK brides, which are looking for heirloom art in their wedding dress but are unable to travel to be involved in the fully bespoke service at Hermione’s studio, or are working to a tighter timeframe.
