A Sachin & Babi Dress for a Foliage Filled, Modern + Romantic Wedding in Italy

When today’s wedding images popped into my inbox I thought I’d accidently clicked on Pinterest, they took my breath away.

The foliage table runners! The ivory dresses! The gold cutlery! Everything about this wedding is picture perfect, especially the scenery and of course, the bride and groom. So without further ado, let’s meet the gorgeous couple shall we? Head of marketing Filipa and solicitor Ciaran were wed on 31st August 2018 at the beautiful Italian villa Borgo Di Tragliata in Fiumicino, Rome.

Destination photographer Peggy Picot captured the wedding beautifully on camera using her gorgeous natural lit style to really bring out the greens in the foliage and capture the spirit on the day.

“Ciaran and I met in Trinity College in 2010, where we were both studying. We were set up by a friend who turned out to be a great matchmaker! We got engaged in New York in a tiny Air BnB and were engaged almost two years before the wedding.”

The stationery, by Minted, was kept simple and classic and looked exquisite against the gold cutlery, and guests were gifted Tullamore D.E.W and Hendrick’s miniatures, along with Italian sweet almonds (for good luck) as the favours.

“As I wanted my dress to really suit the modern, romantic vibe of the day, as soon as I saw my Sachin & Babi dress, I knew it was the one. I bought it from Beau Bride in Ireland and I loved the simplicity of it.”

“I also loved the structural elements that the train had and the added bows. The owner of Beau Bride didn’t carry this dress, but kindly shipped it in from New York for me to try.”

“A friend had sent me a picture of the dress initially, which is what had led me on the search for it. I tried on over a hundred dresses and this was the last one.”

“Thankfully it was just as beautiful as I had hoped it would be. The fabric was really comfortable and easy to wear, andI liked the bright ivory colour of it too.”

“My veil was my ‘something borrowed’, from a great friend, and my shoes were a pair of soft grey suede court shoes from Manolo Blahnik. My hair was done by Louise Faulkner in Rome and my perfume was Aqua Di Parma by Capri. I finished my look off with a pair of my mum’s pearl earrings and my engagement ring.”

Filipa’s bridesmaids looked sensational in mid-length ivory dresses by Finders Keepers and a pair of barely-there heels. Each maid also held a smaller version of the bridal bouquet, including lush green foliage and ivory flowers, all created by florists Donatella and Giuliano.

By the way, we love a gang of bridesmaids in white – and you can explore more of that here!

The brides dad accompanied her down the aisle to Heartbeats by Jose Gonzalez and at the end of the aisle awaited her husband to be, wearing a custom blue jacket and grey trouser set by Hackett London.

“Our wedding rings were custom made by ESL Dublin. They custom made my ring in yellow gold with two connecting bands and I love it.”

The couple said their I Do’s inside a church decorated with reams of green foliage and pillar candles in hurricane glass jars.

“We wanted to bring the natural setting of the venue to the church and the tables, so we used a lot of greenery including eucalyptus, olive branches and olive sprigs. We added white flowers too for a bright, clean feel.”

Following the ceremony and their couple’s portraits with photographer Peggy, the newlyweds and their guests were greeted with more gorgeous green foliage running down the full length of each banquet style table for the wedding breakfast.

“Again we just wanted to compliment the beautiful surroundings at the venu and bring some of the natural greenery to the dinner tables. We also used gold cutlery, gold rimmed glasses and grey table fabric to keep the tables rustic and romantic, and tie everything together nicely.”

“The bridesmaids wore an ivory colour which looked great in the photos against the picturesque backdrop. I wanted my own dress to be modern and romantic in keeping with the setting too.”

“We chose the venue for its stunning natural landscape, rustic buildings and laid back feel. We really wanted the whole day to reflect the beauty of the venue as it’s surrounded by beautiful greenery and historic buildings, and we wanted the flowers, table settings and church decor to elevate this”

Evening celebrations were kicked off with the couple’s first dance to Dream Catch Me by Newton Faulkner, followed by wedding band The Gloves playing into the early hours of the morning.

“It’s so hard to pick just one favourite moment from the day. We really enjoyed the Italian meal and listening to all of the great speeches from our wedding party. We also loved hitting the dance floor with all of our friends and family!”

Words Of Wedded Wisdom

“Plan well in advance so you can really enjoy the days in the run up to the wedding. On the day itself, take a look around at how happy everyone is to be there. Oh, and breathe!”

A big congratulations Filipa and Ciaran! And thank you so much for sharing these gorgeous images with us – I love a destination wedding to swoon over. Special thanks also to Peggy Picot for capturing the day perfectly.

Until next time…

Much love,
