This beautiful Jersey wedding, held last Summer, features a gown by a talented, London based independent designer, whose creations we absolutely adore – the inimitable Rita Colson.
On 17 July 2021, project manager Joanna and quantity surveyor Sid wed in the bride’s parent’s garden in St Mary on the breathtaking Jersey coast. The outdoor wedding and marquee reception had a simple and beautiful colour palette of fresh white and soft green, paired with hot pink and coral. Every pretty, summery detail was captured by Daisy the Photographer. Enjoy…

Daisy wore the most beautiful gown by talented London based independent designer, Rita Colson, who we are immensely proud to tell you is a Love My Dress recommended supplier.
Joanna discovered her gown at The Wedding Club bridal boutique in London.

“I had a great experience and they were really helpful at keeping in touch via Whatsapp which was handy.”
Rita Colson uses vintage lace and silk to create contemporary pieces with an ethical twist, and you can find out more on her Wedding Directory right here.
Joanna wore Sophia Webster shoes and pearl jewellery.
“I love pearls so I wore a Tiffany & Co. pearl bracelet which my husband gave me a decade ago and pearl earrings from Jersey Pearl gifted by my parents.”
“My husband actually gifted me the scent as a surprise. It was Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue because I wore it when we first met and fell in love.”
“It was the statement sleeves combined with the modern, classic dress. The material was beautiful and it felt so 70s chic. I also added extra sequin detail for extra sparkle.”
Joanna’s veil was her ‘something borrowed’, loaned by her sister, pinned into her hair which was styled into relaxed, boho waves by The Parlour.
“It was a tulle cathedral veil, simple but classic and the perfect addition as it didn’t detract from the detail in my dress.”
Joanna travelled to the wedding in a white car from Jersey Wedding Cars.
I adore the look of bridesmaids in white, and these girls’ gowns were from Warehouse. The flowergirls also wore full white dresses, these from Mango, along with delicate floral crowns.
The pageboys were dressed in outfits from Paisley of London. Their make-up, along with Joanna’s, was beautifully done by Grace Le Masurier at Eye Candy.
The stationery was by Paper Vows and the florist was Wilde Thyme.
“The style went perfectly with our garden wedding. We went for softer neutral colours for the bridal party and ceremony arch but bright pinks and corals for the marquee reception.”
A beautiful bouquet in all greens and shades of white was carried by the bride, created by Wilde Thyme.
Sid and Joanna met as teenagers and grew up together.
“We were engaged in Florence, Italy which was really special.”
“It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and our favourite country to visit.”
“We’d been engaged for four years when we got married. We delayed while renovating our house and then Covid delayed it further.”
As ‘Baby I’m Yours’ by Arctic Monkeys played, Joanna walked down the garden aisle with her father.
In keeping with the neutral theme, Sid selected a linen suit from French Connection via Moss Bros.
The wedding ceremony was held outside with the dinner and evening party hosted in a clear-sided marquee from Marquee Solutions.
The couple and their family added a few extra details to the garden, which was already so beautiful with its greenery and trees.
Sid and Joanna were married by celebrant Lynsey Mallinson and exchanged rings from Rivoli Jewellers. The ceremony included two readings.
“My sister wrote a personal poem which she read at the ceremony. Sid’s sister read ‘Union’ by Robert Fulghum.”
“My dad and husband built two bars which were both personalised with our initials.”
“One was curved and placed under a weeping tree in the garden.”
“We also had a neon sign over the dance floor – ‘Let’s dance’ – with a disco ball as we’re both big disco music fans.”
“We loved Daisy the Photographer’s natural style and her overall vibe. She was amazing on the day.”
“We knew we could trust her and she didn’t disappoint. We would highly recommend Daisy.”
Before night fell, the newly-weds escaped to the secluded beach for some wonderful, sun-filled portrait shots that emanate joy and happiness.
“It’s hard to pick one part as our favourite but I loved when we jumped in our photographer’s Mini to drive down to the beach at sunset.”

In the marquee, the guests and newly-weds sat down to a wedding breakfast from Treacle and cake from Flour Patisserie.
The evening band were Little Black Dress and Sid and Joanna took to the dance-floor for a first dance to ‘You Do Something To Me’ by Paul Weller.
Originally planned for July 2020, the couple postponed by a year and enjoyed a day free of restrictions.”

“You can see the joy and freedom in every one of these photos.
“The decision to postpone was the hardest part but everything felt better after the decision was made.”
“The day we were supposed to get married on ended up being miserable weather but we still had a little get-together. Our wedding day had glorious weather and it felt like 2021 was meant to be our year.”
“We were fortunate that we didn’t have many restrictions – nothing that impacted the day.”
Words of Wedded Wisdom
“Always try to remember what’s most important about the day – the getting married part.”
“Try not to sweat the small stuff. Not everything will go to plan but it doesn’t take anything away from the day.”
Joanna and Sid, that an honour to be a part of your joyful day. That time you spent on the beach looks so full of freedom and happiness.
Thank you to you both for sharing it with us, and thank you Daisy the Photographer, too.
