An Elegant and Bohemian Inspired, Late Summer Wedding at The Orangery at Tortworth Court in Gloucestershire

I need to interject for a moment and remind myself – and reassure you all, that I absolutely adore, and very much treasure my job here at Love My Dress.

I receive the most immense pleasure sharing images of joy, love, gatherings and celebration, as captured in these precious photographs taken at the wedding of wedding photographer Adelle to Paediatric Nurse Practitioner Joel on 5th August last year, at The Orangery at Tortworth Court in Gloucestershire.

Having worked at hundreds of weddings herself, Adelle has seen so many different styles and ideas for styling weddings, but she and Joel wanted to keep this elegant and bohemian. The employed talented and wonderful Jane Riddell of Planned for Perfection to achieve their vision. It was also of great importance to Adelle, that she sensitively wove some thoughtful nods towards her mother, who passed away a few years ago, throughout the day.

The bride wore a Stella York dress and had her hair styled in a loose bohemian braid. I love these images, they carry so much beautiful energy. I hope you love and are uplifted and feel inspired by them too. Enjoy!

Bridal Beauty & Accessories

I wore the groom’s mother’s pearl earrings.

I tied in a piece of material from one of my mum’s dresses in to my bouquet, so that she was with me on the day.

My shoes were from Lulus.

My bridesmaids wore dresses Azazie Bridesmaids – they made individual choices of styles within the overall wedding colour palette.

The Dress

I wore a Stella York dress from the Bliss Bridal boutique. I worked a lot with the boutique for wedding projects and knew that they were a great team. I had a really nice experience with a really friendly and knowledgeable team. I would highly recommend Bliss to other brides.

I felt like a princess in the dress – I felt it was very English and perfect for the venue with the pretty lace and flower embellishments.

The Ceremony

My father walked me down the aisle and Diana from Grace the day wedding celebrant helped us to script a beautiful ceremony, to include memories of my mum, which included using one of mums dresses to literally tie the knot.

We walked down the aisle to Ed Sheeran, who was played a lot throughout the day – as we listened to him a lot throughout our relationship.

We tailored our own vows with the help of our celebrant.

Our rings were from Rahn Jewelers.

How They Met

We met on a night out in Buffalo, NYC. Joel was on stage with a DJ friend and I walked in to the club with a group of friends… he spotted me, I spotted him and I said to my friends, “I’m going to dance with that guy by the end of the night…”. I did and the rest is history!

Joel took me to Paris for the weekend whilst I was studying in Europe and surprised me by our families from the UK and the USA joining us for the proposal by the Eiffel Tower – it was so romantic!

Evening & Entertainment

Our first dance as to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Tenerife Sea’.

Each element of the day was so special. The live music in the evening was so much fun and it was great to spend time with our friends and family, especially those who weren’t able to join us at our first wedding in the USA.

A Note From The Planner

Planned For Perfection

Working in the wedding industry, Adelle and Joel had a clear idea of what they wanted in terms of their wedding style, they just needed someone in the UK to offer guidance and advice and be their eyes and ears in the UK to look after them and share ideas and suppliers.

This was an extra special wedding as Adelle is the daughter of a friend of mine, who sadly passed away a few years ago.

The family emigrated to the USA when the bride was 10 and have lived there ever since. Lauren (brides mum) and I used to walk her dog in the local woods and joke about how one day we would plan our daughters’ wedding and what a useful friend I would be then as I was a wedding planner!
