Maggie and Freddie’s divine, medieval-inspired wedding at Castello di Mugnana in Greve in Chianti brings together vintage silk, custom chainmail, old stone, wildflowers and an abundance of personality. The couple married on 9th April 2026 at this extraordinary 10th-century castle, gathering friends and family from around the world and leaning wholeheartedly into the history of the place.
Maggie wore two vintage wedding dresses, beginning the day in a handmade 1940s A-line gown paired with a family mantilla-style veil, before slipping into silk Jessica McClintock later in the celebrations. Freddie wore a custom chainmail chestpiece and wool trousers made by a Renaissance Faire costumer, a brilliant choice that feels completely at home among the castle’s ancient walls and courtyards.
Love My Dress recommended supplier Stefano Santucci photographed the day on digital and 35mm film, bringing his wonderful warmth, energy and strong sense of human connection to every frame.
The history and beauty of Castello di Mugnana are present throughout these images, but so too are the conversations, the laughter and the sheer joy of everyone being together in this absolutely breathtaking place on this sublime day of celebration. Enjoy!

The Dresses
Two Vintage Gowns
I wore a family mantilla-style, chapel-length veil with lace trim and my shoes were the Nicola Bathie x Antonio Melani Sophia shoes from their Fall 2021 collection. I also wore Thé Matcha by Le Labo (my everyday scent) in a bottle Freddie had made with our wedding date – and I did my hair and makeup myself.
I wore two vintage dresses on my wedding day: a handmade 1940s A-line gown for the ceremony, followed by a 1960s silk Jessica McClintock dress for the reception, designed in a 1920s-style drop-waist silhouette.
I bought both dresses from Those Were the Days Bridal in Edinburgh, where I had an amazing experience. I found it so much more comfortable than the traditional boutiques I’d been to previously. It was just Freddie and I with the owner in the store – she was so friendly, knowledgeable and made the experience feel so personal! Their dress selection was truly exceptional with antique and vintage dresses for any size or style. I very highly recommend to any vintage brides.
I had tried on so many dresses before I found the one. I’d changed my mind a hundred times and hugely diverted from my original choice of Daneille Frankel’s Scarlet dress (which I suddenly felt like I saw everywhere and panicked). I wanted so badly to find the most interesting and unique dress possible, and I found so many truly one of a kind pieces in Those Were the Days, but none were quite right. Then I tried on this fluffy, lacy, utterly traditional A-line gown and I knew! It is a stunningly made dress, and the lace is beautiful, but when I put it on, the first thing I saw was my face. I loved that my dress felt at once unique to me and timeless.
I wore all family jewellery, including my aunt’s antique diamond earrings as my something borrowed and my mom’s David Yurman bangle as my something blue.
The bridesmaids wore different dresses of their own choosing – I gave each of them a colour I associate most with them and they could choose any style and brand they were most comfortable with!
Our flower girl wore the Luli & Me Velvet Party Dress in Rose.
The Ceremony
Freddie and I walked down the aisle together and were accompanied by an instrumental version of ‘Our House’ by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.
Our friend and one of my bridesmaids, Lucy, officiated our ceremony. Lucy also officiated a Celtic hand-fasting for us, as a tribute to our home in Scotland. We wrote and read our own vows.
We chose Stefano Santucci as our photographer. He was incredible and we cannot recommend him highly enough.
Stefano was such a calm and quiet presence. He was able to capture so many meaningful moments we would have missed, and he gave us the freedom to enjoy our day without feeling like we were performing for a camera.
How They Met
We met in the surf club at university in the north of Scotland and got engaged 3 years later at our home in Edinburgh. Freddie came home from a closing shift and woke me up to ask me. We were engaged for about 18 months.
The Reception
My favourite part of the day was dinner. We had a banquet table in the courtyard of the castle, and while it was the most beautiful setting and the most delicious food, my favourite thing was being able to see everyone’s faces.
I loved seeing our friends and families connect and share the moment with everyone altogether.
We opted for airy, colourful, wildflower-esque arrangements with lots of greenery. Our planner found us Fiori di Testa, who did an amazing job, were so accommodating, and understood our vision perfectly.
I hand-wrote our menus and, for the place-cards, Freddie and I hand-wrote notes to each of our guests as a personal touch.
Our planner knew a vendor who provided us with bottles of olive oil for the guests, which she had labelled with our names and the wedding date.
Cavalieri Ricevimenti was our catering supplier for the whole wedding sourced through our planners. Our caterer also provided the cake for us, which was a traditional Tuscan millefoglie, assembled live in front of our guests and eaten fresh with chocolate and fruit.
We used a local company called Central House for the lighting and audio set up, also sourced through our planners. For transport we used Stedop, a company based in Greve in Chianti and once again, sourced through our wedding planners.
