‘Wardrobe Through to Narnia’ – A Vintage Inspired Bridal Photoshoot…

Shortly before Christmas, I received an email from Louisa, the Photographer behind contemporary London Wedding Photographers, 'Urban Bridesmaid' asking if I'd be interested in featuring a photoshoot that had been inspired by the CS Lewis novel, The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe.  The concept was to focus on the wardrobe, through which the characters in the novel walk through in to the land of Narnia.  And as the photoshoot featured the work of two of my wedding industry favourites, Halfpenny London and Yulia Kunze, I knew I had to take a look.

Photographer Louisa from Urban Bridesmaid, explains more about this inspiring winter bride photoshoot – styled by No 11 Cavendish Square…

"The timespan for this shoot from the concept in my mind, to actually shooting was only 4 days in total, before the wardrobe would be dismantled after a run of Narnia themed Christmas parties it was due to be in attendance at.

I knew that I wanted a 1930s style of wedding dress and vintage jewellery, which would lend themselves particularly well to the timeline in which the book is set. I quickly looked on the Love My Dress blog for supplier contacts – and literally I had the vintage contacts I needed to help within 48 hours…"

"Obviously in the book 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' by CS Lewis, there is no bride, but taking a bit of poetic licence in this shoot and drawing on themes from the book, we have an adult Lucy Pevensie (the first person to go through the wardrobe and into Narnia).  Professor Digory Kirke’s study and Turkish Delight also feature in this shoot, though in the book it is Edmund Pevensie that eats the Turkish Delight not Lucy."

I love the styling in this photoshoot – the beautiful dresses are of course from the wonderful London celebrity Wedding Dress Designer Kate Halfpenny who first featured on Love My Dress back in January 2010, and is due to feature again soon (watch this space).

Yulia Kunze supplied the bridal headpieces, which I just adore…
