Good morning lovelies,  we’ve been taking it easy on the blog this weekend and allowing ourselves some time to focus on important behind the scenes developments.   That said, I’m very much looking forward to switching off today to be able to spend some time with my lovely little girls before they had back to school next week.  In the meantime, I’m keen to share with you the latest designs and images from Britten Weddings.

Longer term readers might already be aware of my personal love affair with this wonderful company based in Bath, who have been designing the most elegant of handmade bridal accessories for five years now.  The designer behind the brand, Sarah-Jane Britten, talks about these beautiful photographs, styled and captured by Gooch & Gawler, and why they are gracing the pages of Love My Dress® today.

“Our entire range, including wedding haircombswedding hair pins and wedding hair vines has been refreshed, following the launch of our new wedding earrings collection in December last year. The aim for every piece was pure bridal luxury; a blend of elegance with old style English craftsmanship.”

“We needed a photoshoot to live up to the new pieces, which include all new wedding headbandswedding earrings and a sublime collection of wedding Veils, so as we have always done in the past, we turned to styling and photography team, Gooch & Gawler, to capture our new designs in their best light.”

I really adore the aesthetic of this new collection – elegant pieces that would look as good on a bride aiming for a luxury feel or more relaxed, bohemian vibe on her wedding day.

“Our new designs are boho and deco inspired, with contemporary twists.  Unusually, we have a strong gold component to the collection this time, having noticed a real desire for this type of accessory from our bespoke brides.”

Britten Weddings have it covered no matter how late you’ve left it to add a beautiful accessory to your wedding day look.  You can read more about their delivery and returns methods on this page.

“For last minute brides many items are available ‘next day’ and everything within a few days. Standard delivery is free to most of the world.”

The attention to detail with every handmade piece is second to none.

As always every bead is hand stitched, every flower hand cut and every pattern hand drawn. We use only traditional craft and millinery techniques right here in our studio near Bath.  We can only do this by selling direct to our wonderful brides, we love the feedback and reviews we get by working like this.”

The most beautiful earrings I’ve ever seen, they are even better than they look online. So beautifully made and the perfect addition to my jenny packham wedding dress! I was also impressed with the lovely packaging and handwritten note, it made them feel even more special.  Now I need a hairpiece to match!  (Prudence F, who purchased the Florence earrings in gold)

What beautiful images, I hope you agree?  Just a little reminder at the end of this piece that we only ever promote businesses and companies to our readers who we know provide excellent products and services – down to every last little detail – including the packaging!

“Part of the experience is our luxury packaging, we want every part of the buying a Britten piece to feel amazing – heirlooms to be passed on deserve nothing more.”

  1. It feels like the blog has been very heavy on articles about products and services recently, rather than the experiences of brides or helpful tips. Hopefully this is just a transition as you focus on the business side of the blog a bit more and not a permanent feature.

    1. Hello there Love My Dress fan 🙂

Thanks for leaving a comment – I appreciate you taking the time and have taken on board your comments.

Here’s the thing – the last two weeks have been a school holiday (I have 2 little girls) and so we haven’t published quite as many real weddings as usual during this period, because well, life and family has been happening, and we have 5 and a half years of blog archives for our readers to enjoy. I also happened to have a debilitating migraine this week which, as the manager of my own blog business, meant I wasn’t able to work as usual.

I do appreciate your comment, but, in defence of my blog and, as it’s Editor, the decisions I make on what content to publish – this is also a business, and we could not survive without our sponsors, who we absolutely cherish beyond words.

I work full time in managing Love My Dress – and believe me, it’s more than a full time job. We never usually publish more than 2 sponsored features Monday to Friday (compared to the average 8 minimum weddings we usually share during the same period), and possibly up to 2 maximum at the weekend – though that is rare. I personally wouldn’t refer to this as ‘heavy’ on articles about product and services.

Because it is still the school holidays where I live and I have a family to care for, I chose to share two sponsored features this weekend and focus the rest of my time on my family.

I know that the vast majority of our readers appreciate the sponsored features we share – they understand we have to publish this type of advertorial content in order for our business to survive. I am also proud that we do it in a way that politely introduces our readers to products and services that we believe in – that I would personally buy and recommend myself.

I am genuinely thankful that you visit Love My Dress to appreciate the real wedding features and be inspired by the experiences of other brides, but this blog will continue to share sponsored features just as we have done for the past few years now, not only so that we can survive as a business, but so that I can continue to share details of products and services I love with our readers – the vast majority of whom I know appreciate this type of content.

I will also continue to allow myself a little breathing space during school holiday periods, so that I am able to spend precious time with my little girls. Trust me, I’m already gearing myself up for a busy week sharing real weddings next week.

I do hope you understand and will appreciate my reply – thanks so much again for taking time to comment.

      Love Annabel xxx

      1. Hi Annabel, I 100% appreciate your reply and it is good to hear. I’m really sorry to hear about your migraine, how horrid – I hope you feel better soon. I hope you’ve still managed to have fun with your family. It is nice to know the context, I only wanted to comment as I’ve been reading your blog avidly for 6 months since I got engaged. I had been thinking it over the last couple of weeks and because I respect you and enjoy your blog I wanted to share my thoughts instead of just reading another one. I’ve always loved how your brides and their descriptions of their experiences form the centre of what you do – with some appropriate and necessary sponsors of course, it is all about the balance. I’m glad I left my comment as now I understand your situation more and feel reassured. Look forward to more posts next week. Thanks for replying, sorry of I disturbed your Sunday.

        1. I am so thankful that you took time to reply, thank you so much!

You really haven’t disturbed me at all, I genuinely value your comment and feedback. I just can’t deny I felt a little down on first reading it. Especially as I feel that I’ve not been there for my children enough this holiday (talk about being caught between a rock and a hard place). I genuinely have taken on board your comments and will keep them in mind when scheduling during school holidays again, which is a positive thing! So please don’t worry.

I’m so delighted to hear you’ve been such an avid reader too! I really hope that you will continue to be.

          Thanks so much again,

          Annabel xxx

  2. Do you only write about British brides or do you cover worldwide? Getting arried in August and would love to share my special day with you!

    1. Wondering the same thing here! I’m a U.S. bride but have been so inspired by your blog– it’s the only one I read! Your weddings always seem real and refreshing, and its made me feel a lot better about the planning process! Not all our fonts and shades have to match 100%, like a lot of other wedding blogs I see 🙂

  3. Beautiful range of accessories. I’m looking for something, a hair comb, to match my dress which has some art deco style beading all over until the trumpet tulle skirt. These are definately in the pipe line but how am I supposed to just choose one?? Is it acceptable to change my hair style about 6 times during my wedding??

  4. This is the perfect hairdo inspiration, thank you! I will be wearing a beautiful head piece on my wedding in two weeks’ time and I have a friend helping me do my hair, so we have been scouting around for ideas on hairstyle and this is so helpful! Lovely accessories too.

You are doing a wonderful job running the blog by the way, I know how much time it takes to get just one post in order, and yours are always spectacular, so thank you for that!

    Iida xoxo
