This afternoon, I’m so delighted to be sharing these images on behalf of our wonderful new partner photographer Georgina Harrison and the beautiful York bridal boutique, Andrea Bambridge. The Andrea Bambridge boutique is nestled in the heart of one of my favourite historic UK cities and located in the most beautiful, listed building that is part of ‘Our Lady’s Row’ – a quaint row of cottages and the earliest row of houses that survive in York today.
“To celebrate the 700th Birthday of ‘Our Lady’s Row’, our photo shoot captures the beauty of both our city and building. Our jettied building which dates back to 1316, travelled back in time with a window display full of old images and clothing- including bridal gowns and ball gowns capturing the history of bridal fashion. By using the buildings unique beams and York’s cobbled streets in our shoot we hope to give you an insight into our historic city and bridal boutique.”
“We used a bespoke Andrea Bambridge gown, a simple silk gown with an exquisite ivory guipure lace over jacket finished off with a vintage style clasp, loosely reflecting the 1920’s evening wear period. For our second look, we used an eye catching beaded cape, designed by the award winning ‘Eliza Jane Howell’, to complement this look we used with one of their 1920’s styled beaded hair pieces.”
“The day was captured beautifully by Georgina Harrison, who added to the soft, romantic feel of the shoot. After wanting to work with Georgina for a long time, this was an ideal opportunity for us to use her exceptional talent and her work complemented the historical, bridal romance perfectly.”
“‘Our Lady’s Row’ was initially lived in to pay for a chantry priest to read prayers. The funds also went towards the maintenance of the Holy Trinity Church, which is kept as a real hidden treasure behind our boutique, adding to the magical feel of York.”
“Our bridal boutique, which is shadowed by York Minister, has been strongly established here for over 25 years. We have seen the bridal fashion evolve dramatically throughout the years, to truly reflect the individuality of each decade. To celebrate this special year we will be holding a series of events, including a competition and sale.”
“The historic look was brought together with the hair and make-up, by Catherine Elizabeth. We discussed the 1920’s style which we wanted for our shoot and Emma created it perfectly. The brown eyes and deep lipstick are a true reflection of the period and the hair added to the glamorous look.”
“Finishing the overall bridal look with a beautiful bouquet of ivory flowers. Florist Fiona Hogg used classic, simple flowers, again reflecting the historical period which we aimed our shoot at.”
