Oh I do love a flower crown. I don’t feel they suit me for some reason so I’m very envious of those ladies that wear them with confidence, and the bigger the better. Today’s bride Frances is wearing a luscious, full bodied crown that matches her large bouquet and it’s total perfection – it also reminds me of this feature we shared yesterday, that was inspired by the Pantone colour of the year, ‘Greenery’.
Frances, an assistant merchandiser at Jules B, wed Adam, an operations manager for energy brokerage Utility Wise on the first of May 2016 at Healey Barn, Northumberland, chosen because it epitomised the relaxed, rustic feel they were looking for. Helen Russell Photography is responsible for these gorgeous images which will have you itching for springtime to arrive. Frances’ David Fielden dress from Kathryn S. Trueman Bridal in Morpeth is a total show stopper, the drape of the fabric and lace back are exquisite on her. Her light flowing veil and handmade flower crown by the talented Helen Mawson of Little Book for Brides member Bels Flowers are perfect.
“It was the first dress I picked out and tried and it was exactly what I’d pictured in my head. I loved the fabric and the lace detail at the back was just enough to give it the wow factor.”

The amazing Helen Russell Photography has captured the essence of the day beautifully. The images of the bride walking around outside after the ceremony are particularly captivating.
“We couldn’t have chosen anyone else as Helen’s style is exactly what we were looking for. She instantly put us at ease on the day and the results were out of this world as we knew they would be.”
“Adam gave me a bottle of Orange Blossom by Jo Malone, the evening before the wedding. I also wore a simple sterling silver bangle from Links of London which my mam had given me as my something new.”
“The brilliant Lisa Jones did our makeup and I also had semi-permanent lashes by Lisa at her salon the day before. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.”
I could go on and on about how stunning the flowers are. Bels Flowers in Jesmond are featured in our little book for brides directory and it’s easy to see why. Frances’ bouquet and flower crown are beautifully bold and striking, and really set the tone for the day.
“After an initial meeting with Helen at Jesmond Dene House we knew we had chosen the right florist for us. Her ideas were exactly what we had envisioned and we couldn’t have been happier on the day.”
“Adam and I were introduced by a mutual friend four years ago. He proposed almost two years later on Christmas morning at Penshaw monument, Sunderland as it’s a place close to his heart.”
“The wedding was planned for 18 months later.”
Frances’ bridesmaids donned gorgeous black, wrap style maxi dresses from Coast. The ladies also carried full, luxurious green and white bouquets to match the bride.
Frances arrived at the ceremony in a stylish 1930’s vintage car from Campbell’s, South Shields.
Barry Hyde sang a version of ‘Little Trip to Heaven’ by Tom Waits as Frances’ dad accompanied her down the aisle to meet Adam.
“Adam, my dad and the best man wore made to measure suits from Jules B with an Eton shirt and tie and Hugo Boss cufflinks also from Jules B. The made to measure service in the Jesmond store was second to none.”
Frances and Adam got their wedding rings at Wittens Jewellers in Sunderland, a lovely family run business that specialise in unique pieces.
Words of Wedded Wisdom
“I was a bit last minute with everything which meant the last couple of weeks before the big day were quite stressful. The more organised you are the better. The actual day goes by in a flash so enjoy every minute.”
Thank you so much to the lovely Frances and Adam, and also to Helen Russell, the images are truly beautiful. If you have been blown away by the gorgeous flowers, do check this thread of weddings featuring Bels Flowers.
