Bridal Inspiration Board #17 ~ Pale Blue and Pretty…

Ooooh, it's my turn to present a few inspiration boards today!  I LOVE researching for mood boards and for sometime now I've been dieing to work up some inspirational imagery on all that is pale blue and pretty.

I am obsessed with pastel shades of blue right now. I know Summer is slowly on it's way out, but it's just such a beautiful, feminine, summery colour – perfect for a destination wedding I'd say.  It's the colour I chose to run through the styling for the Love My Dress Summer Soiree, which was the sole inspiration behind creating these mood boards for you.

Now if blue is your colour, there are a variety of ways of stylishly introducing these hue into your wedding day wardrobe.  First of all, let's not forget the Groom! Mix a classic navy blue suit jacket with a pale blue shirt and tie, a-la this 'Summer Skies' look from POSE, London.

Scatter subtle hints of blue into the Bridesmaids hair with cute flower hair pins.  Add the softest touch of blue with some beautiful light blue suede heels from the gorgeous Emmy – how beautiful would these look under a tulle petticoat, talking of which, whilst your dress needn't be blue, you could pretty it up with a fabulous pale blue petticoat peeping out teasingly beneath 🙂

Bridesmaids in pale blue are a sure fire winner – there is something about a maid in a pastel colour dress that is so feminine and lovely.  I also adore the idea of a Bride wearing a cardigan over her wedding dress…

It's all in the detail isn't it? So much pretty! Now, strictly speaking that top left image there should probably be in the style mood board, but I couldn't resist it.  I didn't have a traditional wedding ring when I got married. I opted instead for an antique 1930's art-deco dress ring in aquamarine blue, not dissimilar to this ring from Twist.

Add touches of blue to your tablescape/tablespread by using blue striped straws, or adhering cute little DIY flats to straws and cocktail mixers.  A blue wedding cake always looks so classic I feel, the gorgeous Ruffled cake above would add a bit of a contemporary twist to your any dessert table.

I cannot get enough of pale blue hydrangea at the moment, I just utterly adore them.  These flowers were all over the place at the Love My Dress Summer Soiree, and they looked so very beautiful.

Vintage china in hues of pale green and pale blue would look beautiful at any wedding reception. Fill cups with flowery blooms or cupcakes {as a wedding favour} with pretty iced detail on the top. For advice on vintage china hire, you're best off consulting with an expert, the best of which in the UK is Vicky Rowe of Vintage Teasets.

And isn't that  window frame table plan  above such a simple, yet genius idea? Get yourself on over to the scrap yard, pick up a spare window, splash a little pale blue paint on the fraame and voila! Get yoruself a pen that writes on glass from any Hobbycraft store and you're sorted.

Pale blue commands a set of complimentary pastel colours when it comes to bringing your whole look together. Don't be scared to use completely different hues. Pastel shades of any kind usually work beautifully together…

Shades

So there you have it, just some lovely pale blue inspiration for all you Brides looking to make this pretty pastel shade a key part of your wedding day.

I've tagged this in the new 'Blue' colour pages -  watch out for the launch of the Love My Dress colour style guide in the coming weeks 😉
