Segerius Bruce ~ Wedding Photographer in London and Surrey…

Happy lunch time everyone 🙂  Now, I’m really rather proud this afternoon to be sharing details of a brand new wedding photography sponsor.  Segerius Bruce, a husband and wife team, is ran by Chanelle Segerius-Bruce, who specialises in shooting weddings and bridal fashion.

As well as recently being commissioned by You & Your Wedding magazine to shoot two big editorial features, Chanelle is also currently working with several high-end bridal boutiques and wedding dress designers.  Chanelle boasts that effortless, editorial style photography. She is also, of course, a bit of a genius at shooting weddings, typically producing beautiful, timeless images, with a crisp and clean quality…

“I love working with real couples too and being a part of their amazingly special day. I love getting those moments between father and daughter especially…”

Segerius-Bruce, Wedding photography in Surrey and London...

Apart from the photography itself I do beautiful wedding albums and call on my background in the design industry along with my retouching skills to create a bespoke album that has images which are finished to a very high standard. I love shooting couple portraits and engagement sessions around London and I do a fair few of these sorts of shoots for people…

My location is in leafy Surrey just under Box Hill in Dorking. It is a beautiful part of the UK and easily commutable to London. I do a lot of London weddings as a result, however I am available to travel all over the Uk and have shot in Wales, Dublin and Liverpool.

I have also been flown abroad by couples to Bali, Mauritius, Marrakech, Prague, Cyprus and whenever I visit South Africa I tend to book two or three weddings per trip…

How did you get in to wedding photography?

I started out shooting film around ten years ago and attended an evening class and got my hands dirty in the dark room. I then progressed onto digital and shot a couple of model portfolios, subsequently I entered some of those into a Portrait Photographer of the Year competition with one of the large national photography magazine titles and I won the accolade in both 2007 and 2008.

The weddings started after I attended a seminar at the annual SWPP (Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers) Convention by American photographer David Beckstead. He was a great inspirational speaker and talked about what went into shooting weddings, being creative and shoot destination weddings. I walked out of there and I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I shot my first paid weddings in 2008 and the rest is history!

What do you love most about this profession?

I love the people I have met in this industry and I have been helped tremendously along the way. I would like to think that I have also helped others too and I love the comradery. In terms of weddings I love the way they take me to all corners of the country and the globe!

I have an insatiable wanderlust and I loved to see new places from, the inside of private manor houses nestled in the English countryside to the bustling souks of the Madina in Marrakech…

What’s the best advice you can give to a couple in advance of having their wedding photos taken?

Meet with your wedding photographer in person. Make sure that you have scoured their blog and portfolio ahead of the meeting. You have to love the style of the particular photographer and get a real feel for it first to know whether you want those images to represent your wedding.

Once you have met with your potential photographer in person or arranged a Skype call if in a different country, it should give you a good indication of whether you get on well. That person will be there with you from the bare bones beginning of the preps all the way through to drunken dance shapes being thrown on the dance floor, make sure you feel completely comfortable with them.

The photographs are the one thing that will be kept for generations and wedding albums handed down and shared with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I would steer clear of fads and I recommend album design that will stand the test of time. Clean, simple and timeless…”

If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?

I would do high end beauty and fashion retouching full time. I still do a bit of freelance work now for Mario Testino, I like to dip into the industry every now and then to keep my contacts going.

The skills are very transferable and it goes hand in hand with my photography business…
