Hey lovers, I have one gorgeous, gorgeous wedding to share with you this afternoon, courtesy of brand new North East based photography duo, The Twins, (who I have developed a whoooole new secret bloggers crush on, but that's another story).
Good god, this wedding has the Love My Dress hall mark stamped all over it, a beautiful vintage inspired wedding dress, red lipstick, details to drool over and hint of an elegant marcel wave; Adam and Katy tied the knot on 15th September 2012, at St James’ Church, Buttermere and New House Farm in the Lorton valley (Reception), The Lake district, England…
"I bought my dress from BHLDN in US – I knew I definitely didn’t
want a traditional style as it wouldn’t have suited my personality or
the day, so when I discovered this website I knew it was the one for me!
If you are looking for a wedding dress with a difference then they are
the folk to go to!
I loved the dress from the moment
I saw it! I knew it would suit my shape and it had that touch of
vintage glamour I was looking for. The buttermilk colour was perfect for
my pale skin tone too…"

"My florist was a local lady called Alyson from ‘down the road’. She
runs a farm by day but her passion is flowers! From the moment we met
she completely understood our vision – in her words ‘so basically you
want your flowers to look as though you’ve just picked them out of a
hedge on the way to the church!’.
I sourced lots of mix match/ vintage
look ticking stripe and gingham grosgrain ribbons to use throughout
the bouquets & buttonholes, I also sourced lots of vintage milk
bottles, jars, vases and zinc buckets for the floral displays in church
and for the barn."
"We got engaged at the end of January, during a winter walk followed by a
flask of tea and a custard cream to celebrate! (Oh the glamour!). We
wanted to make sure our personalities shone through. We wanted a really
relaxed, fun, and informal day with lots of kooky details and a little
touch of vintage glamour!"
"Adam wore a dark navy suit from J Crew, New York. His shirt & shoes were from Prada, his ditsy floral tie was from Aubin and Wills."
"I sourced an Edwardian Swallow brooch from an antique shop in the
Cotswolds. I then sent it off to Abby at ‘Cherished Vintage’ to be made into the
most perfect hairpin a girl could wish for.
I also wore an old gold locket from my Mum’s jewellery box with an old black and white picture of my mum as a little girl inside."
"From the moment we started to plan our wedding we knew we wanted
our wedding car to be vintage and quirky. Luckily we have a friend in
the local Morris Minor Club who owns a beautiful cream Morris Minor
named ‘Alice’. He offered to be our driver for the day and Alice did us
proud!
"Oh, those shoes! It took me quite a while to find the perfect pair
but when the UPS man delivered them to my door ( 2 days before the
wedding!) all boxed up beautifully from Net-a-Porter I couldn’t stop
looking at them. They are the comfiest pair of heels I own & wore
them all day and night long!"
"We ordered our Wedding invites from Artcadia.
They have a vintage letterpress machine and create beautifully simple,
stylish invitations. We then customised the invites with a ticking
stripe grosgrain ribbon binder."
"I wanted my Bridesmaids to wear the same colour, but to choose
beautiful, effortless dresses to suit their style and shape. My sister
wore a pretty ‘Paul & Joe Sister’ French lace dress (customised with a J Crew silk corsage sash) & my friend Natalie wore a silk chiffon French Connection dress with beaded neckline."
"We wanted our cake to be a bit of fun. My mum made our wedding
cake, sourced a Victorian silver cake stand & we decorated it…she
makes the best chocolate cake in the land."
"We didn’t feel the need to provide wedding favours, however we did
make up some party boxes with a retro feel for the kids that attended
the reception."
"My nephew Tom was ‘top to toe’ in J Crew, New York."
"Our photographs were taken by the lovely Caroline Briggs and her sister Kelly from The Twins Weddings.
They totally captured the essence of the day & everyone commented
how friendly, fun and relaxed they were. Can’t recommend these ladies
enough!"
"My niece Lily wore one of my own designs – a silk organza tea dress. I sourced some little nude leather brogues from Zara."
"We hired the barn at New House Farm as an amazing blank canvas. We hired trestle tables and
wooden chairs and festoon lighting from a marquee supplier to create a
rustic feel, we put up lanterns, stags heads & sourced some young
trees in pots to provide height to the room. I styled the tables with
vintage lace & linen flour sack runners & used mismatched china
plates for the place settings. I needn’t go on, as the great thing is
that Caroline and Kelly captured every single detail of the day on
camera!"
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
"Try to make your own
personality shine through. Make choices that suit you and your bloke and
don’t forget the little details that make the day unique."
Some weddings leave me reather speechless, this is one of them. I adore everything about it, and then some.
Katy, you have the most amazing, innate sense of style, and you look amazing on yoru wedding day. Bravo you for choosing The Twins to take your photographs too.
Tell me, who adores this wedding as much as I do?
Much love,
Annabel
