Glitter Heels, Bunny Ears, Bow Ties and Two Fat Ladies ~ A Glamorous Glasgow Wedding

Good morning beautiful people! It's the start of a new week, and I'm absolutely raring to go, are you?  Hoping you all had a wonderful weekend and are ready to embrace the next few days ahead after a much earned rest.

This morning's wedding was submitted by talented Scottish photographers, Craig & Eva Sanders – Sarah and Gerry tied the knot on 13 April this year, with a ceremony at St Peter Church, Glasgow, followed by a reception at The Two Fat Ladies at The Buttery.  I love the chic and stylish nature of this wedding, especially that beautiful dress with the elegant cowl detail…

"I went to a trunk day at Anne Priscilla bridal shop in Glasgow for The Vintage Wedding Dress Company, now known as Charlie Brear
– expecting actual vintage dresses. The designer insisted I tried a
particular dress on, which wasn't at all what I thought I wanted, but as
soon as I did i fell in love with it and I would have happily just kept
it on until the wedding ( in over a years time). It also worked
perfectly for our night venue which was very intimate and I needed
something that worked alongside that."

"I tore out and kept lots of inspirational images from magazines and stuck them in a book that my maid of honour had given to me as a gift. I went to met Ruby Flowers
a year before the wedding (as I booked her as soon as we got engaged)
to see what was in season. I didn't want anything too fussy or 'too
done', and Ruby was amazing and completely understood my vision for the
day."

"My glittery heels were by Miu Miu at Net-a-Porter…"

"For me the veil made the outfit. I loved it! It was by Rainbow Club and it was called Spellbinder."

"We wanted a relaxed 'house party' where everyone felt included and
no one was stressed. The first thing we bought for the wedding
was the cake topper, and so a strange rabbit theme emerged!  But that meant
something to me as when I had been little I wanted to be a rabbit when I
grew up and had spent a few years twitching my nose as that was how I
thought you became one?"

"My bridesmaids wore dresses by French Connection that I sourced via EBay, along with pink fake fur stole from ASOS and fake bunny tattoo from Pepper & Ink on Etsy…"

"I wore a pair of vintage pearl earrings that were my mothers and I got a personalised Perspex clutch from Mnologie.  My temporary tattoo was by Forever More."

"I'm a trainer for Jo Malone
so there were Jo Malone candles everywhere to create an atmosphere and scented memory for our guests. We had also been collecting disco
balls for a bit of glitz and glamour. We had them around the make shift
dance floor with electric candles for a glow. The venue itself had so
much character that we didn't need to do much except add Ruby 's amazing
flowers."

"I had seen the beautiful and natural creations by Three Sisters Bake
at a wedding fair and loved how edible and relaxed the cakes looked.
Originally I didn't want to have a cake but my husband insisted he
wanted one with butter icing and jam and at three sisters bake its cake
like your granny used to make. We had 3 tiers and 3 flavours – the first
was raspberry and coconut sponge with raspberry jam and coconut butter
icing, the second was Victoria sponge with vanilla flavoured butter
icing and the top tier was lemon cake with lemon butter icing and
homemade lemon curd.

Loads of our guest have said it was the best cake
they'd ever tried and Gerry made sure he tried ever tier and would
agree!"

"As we had it at a restaurant all the food was provided by The Two Fat Ladies at The Buttery.
I loved we have a menu for our guests to pick from with 5 options for
starters and mains as well as amazing desert platters and cheese boards.
Again so many of our guests said it was one of, if not the, best meals
they'd ever had. also for a great restaurant the staff are so amazingly
nice and Maddie who helped us from the start and throughout the day is
fantastic and kept everything moving seamlessly."

""Our first dance was to 'I only have eyes for you' by the
flamingos. It was just a beautiful and haunting track. We heard it one
day when we were out and knew it was the perfect song.

I will
always just think of the final songs of the night. Everyone was up
dancing, it had almost become our favour nightclub in that it had got a
wee bit sweaty. The DJ played ' We Are Your Friends' at which point
everyone was hugging and an usher is moved to tears, then The Killers '
all these things that I've done'  – the chanting of "I got soul but I'm
not a soldier" was unbelievably loud.

The lights came up and everyone
was gutted, no one wanted it to be over, I felt so happy! Then in true
Glaswegian style the chant of "one more tune" started – the DJ plugged
his stuff back in and played The Doors – Touch Me. Words can't express
how perfect this song was on that moment. I want to do it again!"

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

"Just enjoy every moment. Make sure you spend as much time as
possible with the people you love and give up stressing the small stuff
as on the day the only thing that matters is the love. Our
vintage bus to take the guests to the reception broke down, the priests pager went
off during the vows and I got a full face of glittery confetti after the
service meaning I spend the rest of the day looking like a mermaid –
these are the stories that make you smile after its over.

I loved the creative run up to the wedding and I'm
really proud of how it all looked and came together perfectly. I am
really happy that on the day I didn't let any of the small stuff bother
me and was so calm in the knowledge that I was marrying the love of my
life. There are silly things that you'll always look back on and wish
you could tweak but you have to let it go."
