Readers, you’re about to be whisked off to Italy for a breathtakingly beautiful wedding set in the rolling hills of Tuscany. I mistook photographer Lelia Scarfiotti’s stunning photographs for a styled shoot when they landed in my inbox! They are like scenes straight from an Italian Renaissance fresco – classic, romantic and dreamy.
Everything about this wedding is exceptionally lovely; from the delicate flowers and pretty stationery, to the bride’s Temperley gown and fairy-lit wedding breakfast. So, prepare to lose yourself in the glorious sunshine and olive groves of Castello di Vicarello, Tuscany, with the wedding of our gorgeous couple, Luiza and Joao.
“Everything in Tuscany inspired me, but especially the beauty of the nature the people and the food!”

Luiza’s dress is the Laelia Floral dress by Temperley London, one of my absolute favourite bridal designers. I adore this gown, with its floral-applique bodice and sweeping Grecian-style train, and Luiza had no doubts about The One, having spotted it on the web.
“I had previously seen my wedding dress on the web, and I totally fell in love. So I knew exactly what I wanted for my day. I would repeat it a thousand times over.”
I’m in floral heaven with these rustic wildflower blooms by La Rosa Canina, which I’m pinning like a mad woman as inspiration for my own wedding this summer.
“I couldn’t find a better person to do all the floral arrangements and centerpieces. They were designed by Tommaso from La Rosa Canina. Such a great job and his choice of flowers and colors was perfect. The simplicity made everything so special and unique.”
Luiza, who is a designer, and Joao, a businessman, married on 4th October 2014. The couple met when they were children.
“We knew each other since childhood. After 8 years without any contact we met one night again by chance. After that night our story started. He proposed to me 3 years later in Prague blessed with the beautiful view from the river Ultava.”
Castello di Vicarello is a medieval castle with 900 years of history in lush Tuscan countryside. The castle is a stone building surrounded by vineyards and fir trees – utterly idyllic. The couple enlisted the help of Aurora Berti, the owner of Castello di Vicarello, to organise the wedding.
Luiza complemented her gown with shoes by Repetto and wore a bohemian-style flower crown in her hair. I never tire of flower crowns and this simple but striking white wax flower adornment has stolen my heart a bit. Stunning. Hair and make-up were styled by Giulia Cresci.
The bridesmaids dresses were by Italian designer Giambattista Valli and they also wore natural flowers in their hair. Can I please hear a collective ‘awww’ for the sweetest little flowergirl ever! What a gorgeous cherub. She wore a brand called Mercatore, as did the smartly dressed page boys.
The couple were married in a lush olive grove ceremony. Luiza walked down the aisle to the sound of violins and a harp played by the Alma Project.
Isn’t the wedding arch spectacular?
“My dad gave me away…it was such a touching moment”
The groom wore a suit by Riccardo Almeida and shoes by another Italian designer, Salvatore Ferragamo.
Guests were treated to an al fresco wedding breakfast with catering by Castello di Vicarello. The table settings are pure rustic chic, featuring urns brimming with flowers, sprigs of olive leaves, gold tealights and copper candlesticks. The pretty menus and wedding stationery were created by Il Papiro.
“For wedding favours we gave small bags with confetti (almonds covered with sugar) from Conti Confetteria”
Words of Wedded Wisdom
“Just keep it simple and concentrate on the emotions and the love that the day is going to bring”
“I totally love your blog! It gave me so much inspiration! Thank you!”
Thank you Luiza and Joao for sharing your beautiful day with us – it truly was a delight to write this feature. My thanks also goes to (in Luiza’s words) ‘the sweetest and lovely photographer from Italy’, Lelia Scarfiotti for the spell-binding photography.
Have lovely weekends all.
Love Louisa xx
