Hello lovelies, I really hope that the boho bride lovers amongst you have had a good look through this morning’s post introducing you to the free spirited new bridal designs by Belle & Bunty. And so lets move on to today’s real wedding, something a little different – a cool, modern take on urban city chic. Jess and Ross tied the knot with an entirely pared back and intimate wedding held on 10th April this year at Chelsea Town Hall. The couple celebrated their nuptials after these formalities with a reception at Paradise By Way Of Kensall Green.
I really love the cool vibe of this wedding and it’s sense of free spirited fun. Jess looks knock-out in her figure hugging dress and 60’s inspired veil (the latter was her something borrowed).
“If I had to describe our wedding in three words it would be ‘urban, unorthodox and ballsy’. It was all about the love, and in trying not to detract from that, we just tried to keep everything as simple as possible.”

“Our wedding took place at ‘radise By Way Of Kensall Green‘ in London. London is saturated with wedding venues. We originally wanted MC Motors, a disused garage in Hackney, which is used for film and photography shoots and that also hosts weddings. When we found out the waiting list was one and a half years long! We realised we didn’t want to wait, so hunted around for a venue with a similar vibe.”
“I showed our wedding planner, Hannah Middlewick of Cottonwood Weddings, and she suggested Paradise By Way Of Kensall Green – a gritty yet chic, distressed pub which was exactly the same. We are both very creative and untraditional, so wanted to avoid all the normal wedding clichés, so gave everyone what they wanted: a short ceremony, an abundance of food and booze in an amazing venue and our company.”
Jess’s dress was from the ubercool For Love & Lemons…
“I bought four dresses, as we had a second Buddhist wedding blessing on honeymoon in Thailand, as well as third party planned for summer. I saw one of the Kardashians wearing my dress at Coachella in a magazine, and loved it, so hunted it down. I also didn’t want anything too fussy, as had a traditional fishtail dress for Thailand, so rolled with it.”
These photographs were taken by the very lovely Natalie J. Watts.
“When we found Natalie and saw her work, we felt it really suited our venue. We really wanted dark moody photos so gave Natalie free reign to be as edgy as possible, and go there!”
“We both worked at Lush Cosmetics together. I was a Web Designer, and Ross, a User Experience Manager. We instantly became great friends. At that time, we were in different relationships to begin with. Over time we stayed in touch, even though Ross moved away. After four years of friendship, we both found ourselves madly in love with each other. We hooked up at a friend’s birthday party, told each other how we felt and the rest is history.”
“We kept things simple during the ceremony, so exchanged short but meaningful vows. We were in such a hurry to be man and wife we just wanted to say ‘I do’ as fast as possible!”
“We wanted rustic white flowers with a touch of blue to match the room and Ross’ suit. I originally wanted just baby’s breath, but our florist Tansy (no website) recommended using a variety, as it could overkill my outfit and be too delicate for the venue.”
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
“Do what you want to do – and stuff what anyone else wants, its your day!”
What a gorgeous day – ‘cuz when it boils down to it, all you really need on your wedding day is love.
Huge congratulations to you both Jess and Ross! May your first year of marriage be filled with love and adventure.
