Hello again lovely ones – how has your day been? Such a beautiful, sunshiney day here in Whitby and such a wonderful wedding on our beautiful wedding blog this morning – did you see? If you head on over to Snapchat today, you can see/hear me talk about my favourite images from the wedding too – my choice might surprise you, it might not. Either way, you *all* need to get on to Snapchat. It’s amazing fun and creative way of me connecting with you lovely readers too.
So on to this evening’s feature. These images I’m sharing this evening were sent in by the absolutely wonderful Cicily Bridal, who we love to support here at Love My Dress. Bridal boutiques that are run by a team that loves bridal fashion and is passionate about really great customer service can make a big difference, let me tell you – and I love to get behind these hard working teams and support them. Producing images like these is testament in itself to the love that Cicily Bridal have for their jobs and for helping to make brides look and feel absolutely beautiful on their wedding day.
Cicily Bridal stock two of my very favourite bridal fashion labels, the incomparable (and personal favourite of mine), Halfpenny London and the ever stylish Charlie Brear. This suite of images features gowns from both designers, alongside a number of exquisite headpiece designs from one of my very, very favourites, Debbie Carlisle. The wonderful Jess Petrie took these images.
“With the mood of the 70’s on our high streets and the whispers of bohemia in our everyday bridal world, we wanted to create a photo shoot that reflected this inspiring moment in bridal fashion.”
“Our mood board for the shoot was an homage to botanics – all brushed metal trinkets, undressed cakes and dresses that gave a sense of style freedom. We wanted to focus on creativity stemming from a natural, almost raw vibe without losing the beauty and soft lines that nature provides.”
“The Botanical Gardens in Sheffield provided the perfect back-drop that would capture the mood we had in our minds and inspo boards and Esme our model completely understood the free-spirited bride we wanted to reflect.”

“From festival lace and fur to the clean lines of satin and floppy hats. Soft hair with fringing to delicate sleeves and bare feet. The dresses we chose for Esme were from the Charlie Brear and Kate Halfpenny collections to bring the 1970’s look.”
“The earthiness we wanted to embrace came through strong with our accessories. Colours were kept to muted shades of brown and blush which allowed the botanical greens to really frame the shoot. Because of the sense of styling-freedom we wanted to portray we stepped away from using accessories that shouted ‘Wedding’.”
“To bring a sense of ‘high-street’ fashion we styled the shoot with pieces from ASOS. These worked fabulously well with our bridal accessories from Debbie Carlisle.”
“For the flowers our remit to Vaas Florists was to incorporate more foliage than traditional flowers in the bouquet and other areas of the shoot. This really allowed them to become part of the botanicals surrounding them.”
“The creative team we worked alongside all had the same vision – natural, strong images inspired by the 1970’s but truly echoing today’s bride and her independent spirit.”
“Alison Jenner Hair wanted the hair and make-up to feel natural with soft up-dos dressed with flowers and hair vines and a natural wave for the ‘hair down’ look inspired by 70’s fashion. The make-up palette was kept to browns and greens to create strength around the model’s eyes with a natural colour on her lips. The make-up used was all from the Charlotte Tilbury collection.”
“Everything was brought together with Jess Petrie’s creative approach to photography providing the softness and emotion which pulled the whole ‘style story’ together.”
How absolutely beautiful – so much love and thanks to every single member of the talented and creative team listed below. These are suppliers we LOVE ladies – and they come with a highly recommend stamp of approval from me.
Are you working a touch of 70’s bohemian style into your wedding day? I’d absolutely love to hear from you if so.
Have a gorgeous Friday evening everyone.
Love Annabel x

Being a massive fan of 70s fashion – the good bits! – I actually watched American Hustle & I’m sure I enjoyed Amy Adams’ clothes as much as the film!
I’d wear so many of these – love a bit of fringing and flowing hair. Great dresses & of course Jess’ photography is sublime, as usual.
Thank you for your lovely comment Catherine xx
I LOVE American Hustle – Amy Adams is so God Damn sexy in that movie.
Thank you for your lovely comment Catherine – the team behind this shoot worked really hard to create these images – it’s such a pleasure to share them for them now on Love My Dress.
