She Said…
Jack proposed on 3rd July 2016 at Cowley Manor. As far as recalling how it happened and what I actually did once Jack dropped to one knee, I can’t really remember – everything is a blur! Fortunately, as Jack proposed in front of family and friends at our daughters’ Christening (and a few of them were in on it), they managed to capture the whole thing in photographs and on video. I remember just feeling sheer shock. I might have even chucked a glass of Prosecco in the air (I know, what a waste!).
I simply didn’t believe Jack when he asked me and even asked if he was joking – he had a pretty long wait until it dawned on me that it was real and I eventually said yes.
I’ve never been so shocked in my life; it was the most unexpected, amazing surprise!
Once it had all sunk in it topped off the most perfect day, made even more amazing because our two little girls were there. Our family is everything to me and it couldn’t have happened in a more perfect setting than the beautiful Cowley Manor.
It was always going to be a special day – as it was our girls’ Christening. But the fact that we were with family and friends in a beautiful setting on a red hot summer’s day just made it even more incredible. I love that the girls were there and involved and importantly our eldest, Mylah, approves of daddy’s choice of ring, “oh mama, so pretty!”. It was truly one of the best days of my life.
We’re planning on a long engagement so there’s lots of time to plan, though Jack’s sister has already sent me a bundle of wedding magazines!
He Said…
I had been thinking about proposing for a while and spent a lot of time searching for the perfect ring for Jade as she’s very particular! I started off looking for a ring I thought she’d want but after not finding anything I liked, I decided to choose one that I imagined I would like on her and that I felt was perfect. This turned out to be the best way to go as it meant the ring was more personal and Jade loves it.
We’d been on holiday a couple of weeks before and the idea of proposing was running through my head while we were away, but asking her in front of our family and friends on such a special day seemed like the perfect way. I’m really glad I waited. I didn’t really feel nervous until I was standing with my sister Emily, our dad and my best friend Louis, who all knew what I was planning, just before I made the speech to thank everyone for coming to the girls’ Christening.
As everyone who was there has said, it was the cherry on top of the cake of the most perfect day.
The Ring
The ring is from Goldsmiths in Cheltenham. It’s an 18 carat white gold, halo style diamond ring with diamonds set into the shoulder.
