Good morning loves – I’m incredibly excited today, for at 12:00 noon, we’re launching an amazing competition to win £2,500 towards a dress of your choice from Halfpenny London (or to put towards the cost of a completely bespoke gown that designer Kate will create from scratch for you). So exciting!
In the meantime, we’ve a beautiful new wedding to share with you. Izzy, a Doctor, married Lawyer Ed on 1st July this year with a charming church wedding, followed by a marquee reception that was held in the grounds of Izzy’s parents home in Wiltshire. We’re trying out a little bit of a new format with real weddings going forward, starting with this wedding. Don’t worry, we’re still going to be telling our usual visual stories using images interspersed with text, only, the majority of the images will now appear at the end of the feature in a gallery format. Please do let us know what you think – we love hearing from our readers. In the meantime, over to you Izzy…
“We got married in a church and had a marquee reception in the garden at home. Our wedding was traditional in format but we tried to make it as relaxed and fun as possible. We took inspiration from our natural surroundings, an English country garden.”

I’ve been waiting for a little while now for our first Clinton Lotter bride so am delighted today that Izzy is she! I discovered Clinton Lotter via the wonderful Blackburn Bridal and have been so desperate to showcase and support the work of this talented designer ever since.“My dress choice was based on Carina’s advice! She found me a dress that was smart enough for a Morning Suit wedding but also easy to dance in. The glass beading on the train was stunning.”
How cute to those adorable little page boys look above? Their traditional outfits were from the wonderful Wild & Gorgeous.
Izzy wore a pair of diamond Earrings from Anthea AG Antiques, which were a wedding present from Ed, she also chose a special scent to wear on the day. By the way, if you need some perfume inspiration, I highly recommend these articles and this one in particular, on how to choose the perfect wedding perfume.
“I wore Jo Malone’s English Pear and Freesia scent, which was a gift from my best friend, and who had the bottle engraved to say ‘bride’.”
Izzy’s father accompanied her down the aisle to the traditional sound of Canon in D by Pachelbel. What a beautiful moment captured by photographer Andrew Brannan, as Izzy reaches the end of the aisle.
The couple, who met at University, got engaged on Izzy’s favourite beach in Portugal and were engaged for a year prior to their wedding. During their ceremony, the couple had two readings which included Edward Monkton’s ‘A Lovely Love Story’ and Leigh Hunt’s ‘Abou Ben Adhem’.
“My aunt has ‘Abou Ben Adhem’ on her wall and I have always loved the poem. All our pageboys love dinosaurs, so we chose ‘A Lovely Love Story’ as a reading, with them in mind.”
“Our ceremony was incredibly special and the bit we’d like to go back and do again, because it flew by.”
“Two of my bridesmaids dresses were from TFNC, which we had customised, another was from See by Chloe, via The Outnet), and the other dress was from Needle and Thread.”
“Our photographer, Andrew Brannan, was hugely professional and dedicated. We barely noticed that he was there, but he always was. His photos are stunning.”
The couple hired florist Annie Jones of Pollen Nation to create the beautiful and memorable floral decor. The marquee was transformed by Annie into a botanical haven with hanging floral decor.
“We wanted a natural, English garden look, as though the flowers were growing in the Church. In the marquee, we wanted the same feel and wanted it to have impact. We also wanted it to be colourful. Annie made our vision come alive in the most beautiful flowers we have ever seen.”
Other items of decor included brass candlesticks sourced from H&M, Etsy and charity shops.
“The Bakemonger cakes are fun, colourful and immensely creative. She managed to capture the essence of our wedding in the cake decoration.”
“Her flavours are also delicious – we have a lemon and elderflower layer, a pistachio, rose and cardamom layers and 2 layers of salted caramel and guiness chocolate cake.”We decorated my dad’s pick-up truck!
“We chose September by Earth, Wind and Fire as our first dance song, as it is our favourite song and gets everyone up and dancing.”
Words of Wedded Wisdom
“You won’t notice any of the little glitches on the day, they will be part of what makes it fun. Enjoy it all.”
What an exceptionally beautiful day – you can enjoy further images from the wedding below and enjoy more English country weddings or weddings at home.
We hope you adore them just as much as we do – my love and gratitude to both Izzy and Ed for so kindly sharing their beautiful wedding.
Love Annabel xx

Nope, the reason I like your blog over others is that you have a mix of pictures and words, I don’t like them all collected at the bottom, it’s a bit like information overload and can’t really ‘see’ what’s there.
The bride looks stunning. Love her dress and headpiece!
