The Pronovias show was the spectacular finale in a series of shows held throughout the week during Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week – a trade event held every year where designers from all over the world flock to this beautiful city to showcase their upcoming wedding dress collections to buyers.

Lots of press and media are in the city of course too, to pick up on upcoming seasonal trends and get all the lowdown on the beautiful dresses that will be making their way into boutiques and bridal shops in the coming months. It’s a brilliantly organised event which usually follows similar conventions held in London, New York and Milan. We’re also exceptionally privileged to be able to attend this event each year and share what we see with you all. On that note, I really hope you love what you see in this article because it’s brimming with glamour.

Because WOW!  Do Pronovias know how to pull of a catwalk extravaganza!  This is the 4th time that Pronovias have invited us as guests to their annual catwalk show in Barcelona and after 3 superb former show, we were keen to know how Pronovias would be making their catwalk statement this year.

Last year, the runway was literally a magical garden of running water streams with models weaving their way through an ethereal set design of blossoming trees and an abundance of greenery. It was mind blowing. This year, the catwalk was transformed into a light show spectacular.

Opening the show, a single model stood in the centre of a mirrored catwalk, surrounded by an intense showcase of laser lights and a backdrop of twinkling star lights. Towards the end of the show, a model appeared suspended mid-air and being softly transported, to several hundred gaping jaws, centre-catwalk stage in a dreamy, sparkly and ethereal ensemble. To close the show, Pronovias showcased a beautiful voluminous gown that reminded me of the 1905’s debutante ballgowns.

It whole thing was amaaaazing, as is every Pronovias show I’ve ever witnessed – a mix of justifiable extravagance, pure glamour and fashion excitement you simply can’t beat.

You can watch the full show for yourself below.

It’s good to get to know a little about the people behind the business isn’t it? The man behind these wedding dress designs is Parisian born Hervé Moreau, who is creative director Director for Atelier PronoviasPronovias, Pronovias Privee, St. Patrick and White One labels. This year Moreau turned to his childhood inspiration of artist Marc Chagall – famous for painting worlds of fantasy, love, joy and indeed, blissful brides. Chagall’s work portrays the beauty of brides using silhouettes floating in harmonious dreamscapes surrounded by flowers, birds and glowing stars.

Moreau has interpreted this artist’s vision in his own way – many of the gowns in the Beyond The Stars collection feature hand adorned beadwork representative of the skill of the 60 artisans who work within the Pronovias Atelier. This is couture bridal fashion at it’s very finest.

Moreau has long been passionate about creating gowns that both flatter and celebrate the female form, which is why I was so thrilled to witness a strong sense of diversity on the catwalk this time. This is a collection that has been created with a fit to provide both comfort and confidence to brides of all shape and size. BRAVO PRONOVIAS.

When a big international brand makes gestures like this it truly feels like the wold of bridal fashion has taken a big step towards size inclusivity. And isn’t simply feeling your most glamorous, confident and comfortable the aspiration of every modern day bride?

The gowns that passed us on the catwalk literally floated by – featherlight fabrics moved with pure elegance and grace, reminiscent of the movement and atmosphere captured in the work of artist Marc Chagall that so inspired designer Herve Moreau.

I’m always fascinated to learn the history of hugely successful brands like Pronovias;  the company is almost 100 years old now, beginning it’s life in 1922 as a prestigous high-end fabric boutique in Barcelona. During the midst of the cultural and fashion boom of the 60’s, Pronovias founded it’s own fashion brand and started to sell bridalwear.

Years of experience sourcing and supplying the best silks and lace fabrics in the world gave them a huge advantage and they swift gained a reputation as Spain’s first ready to wear, luxury wedding dress brand.

In the decades since then, Pronovias has expanded its brand internationally and is now a leading global luxury bridal company with over 4000 points of sale all over the world. Thankfully for you lovely lot, a nice little portion of these points of sale are located within the UK.

So what about the dresses this time? For those of you marrying 2020, these gowns are an absolute must-see.

37 ESTRELLA Pronovias Fashion Show 2019

(LONGING to share a shot of the back of this incredible gown with you – huge big statement bow spectacular!)

For me personally, this is one heck of a collection that beautifully mixes a blend of modern bridal fashion silhouettes with more classic, timeless, voluminous shapes. These are gowns that will suit a whole range of body shapes and confidence levels. I loved spotting tailored jackets and trousers, thigh high skirt splits, high collar detail, 80’s inspired gigot/shoulder puff sleeves, slinkiness, volume, big bows, cinched waists, ruffles feathers and sparkle  – it might sound like a crazy cacophony of design elements, but collectively these gowns work SO well together as an utterly cool and ultimately completely glamorous collection of wedding dresses.

I encourage all of you starting out on your wedding dress journey to add Pronovias to your list of gowns to try on.

Lovelies, many of these gowns will be available from a British supplier near you a little later in the year. If there’s a gown you see that you love now – please don’t hesitate to contact me and I’ll help you find the nearest supplier who can help you.

In the meantime, enjoy these images ladies. And Pronovias, thank you once again for making us feel so incredibly welcome and looked after at your couture catwalk show. You really do represent the best in the business and it’s our pleasure to recommend your sublime gowns to our community of super stylish brides.
